We are currently looking for an Organizational and Workforce Management Specialist out of St. Thomas, ON


Our mission is underway. PowerCo, Volkswagen Group’s largest cell factory in St. Thomas, will oversee all battery-related activities—from raw material processing to developing a unified Volkswagen battery and managing gigafactories in Europe and North America. Headquartered in Salzgitter, Germany, we are driving the transformation of mobility forward. Our goal is to make a positive impact on global society, the environment, and the economy.

To support the initial ramp-up of our North American operations, we are seeking a passionate Organizational and Workforce Management Specialist. As part of the ramp-up team, you will work closely with the HR team in St. Thomas, PowerCo SE members in Germany, and colleagues from Volkswagen Group Canada in Ajax, ON. Reporting temporarily to the Chief Human Resources Officer, you will be responsible for the development, planning, implementation, and coordination of initiatives to increase organizational efficiency, as well as defining and steering the company towards an ideal structure.


This is a flex hybrid model, requiring 2 days per week in the St. Thomas office.

Primary Responsibilities


Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the planning of medium and long-term personnel and job position needs as part of Group and brand planning.
  • Prepare and coordinate forecasts for headcount.
  • Establish and execute Headcount Controlling) in accordance with local requirements and alignment with HQ
  • Develop and implement Job Position Management System according to local requirements and alignment with HQ
  • Create and report HR-specific KPIs in line with company, brand, and Group requirements
  • Support the development, design, and implementation of organizational development initiatives in collaboration with departments and alignment with HQ.
  • Plan, manage, and implement organizational development projects.
  • Manage strategic initiatives for leaner, sustainable organizational structures through organizational development and ensure operational efficiency.
  • Coordinate and manage proposals to optimize organizational structure and processes based on corporate strategy, supporting departments in implementation.
  • Shape the future work environment (methods, tools, processes) to enhance customer orientation organization wide.
  • Drive organizational development efforts, identifying and addressing organizational change needs.
  • Design and deliver decision templates, presentations, and workshops.
  • Act as a key liaison for leaders and HR business partners on organizational development matters .
  • Define and implement regulations, processes, policies, and strategies to support the successful ramp-up of the Gigafactory.
  • Development and implementation of competitive working conditions, including compensation systems, benefits, collective bargaining agreements, and workplace environment.
  • Utilize various methods and techniques to make informed decisions regarding direct and indirect financial, as well as non-financial compensations.
  • Allocate resources strategically and work with the compensation team to optimize financial performance.
  • Design and establish control models, processes, structures, committees, and rules in compliance with PowerCo SE’s regulations.


Desired Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Organizational Development, or a related field.
  • 5-7 years of experience in human resources, organizational development, or workforce management.
  • Proven ability to develop organized, accurate, and concise materials and documentation for internal use.
  • Strong practical experience with workforce management tools and their ongoing maintenance.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Canadian employment laws and HR best practices.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Strong project and process management skills, with a demonstrated ability to identify and implement process improvements.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across functions and departments.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Experience with coordination of global teams is a strong plus
  • German language skills are considered an asset
  • High degree of intercultural awareness and sensitivity
  • Experience with SAP SuccessFactors is considered an asset.
