As an Analytics Engineer, you will help Hiive’s team members by supporting the expansion of our data capabilities to empower informed decision-making and enhance operational efficiency. Collaborating closely with data team leadership and business stakeholders, you will help to educate and enable teams to leverage data effectively for improved business performance. Additionally, you will support the ongoing evolution of our data technology stack, maximizing the capabilities and value derived from our data assets.

In This Role, Your Responsibilities Would Include

  • Work across the entire lifecycle of data at Hiive from data source to serving use cases (data cleaning, transformation, defining and managing metrics, business intelligence, insight generation, operational analytics, marketing automation, and more)
  • Collaborate with cross-functional business teams to gather data needs and efficiently deliver on tasks to support business objectives.
  • Enforce data governance policies and best practices to ensure compliance with data privacy regulations and industry standards.
  • Complete code reviews to maintain best practices and production quality data pipelines.
  • Build BI solutions that help to deliver insights across every aspect of the business.
  • Maintain a high quality data transformation layer in dbt (model performance, data quality, and documentation).
  • Build and maintain highly flexible and performant data models to support business decision making.
  • Promote a culture of data-driven decision-making and innovation within the organization.

Required Skills

  • 2+ years of experience as an analytics/data engineer, or similar role
  • Experience with SQL, cloud-based data warehouses, dbt, ETL tools, code-based BI tools and Kimball data modelling
  • Experience with core tools in our data stack being Snowflake and dbt
  • Experience with query optimization and tuning
  • Experience executing on data management policies for ensuring data integrity and data governance
  • Experience with marketing, financial, product and operational data reporting

Preferred Skills

  • Ability to work in Python and support data orchestration orchestration with tools like Airflow or Dagster
  • Experience with Postgres, Fivetran, Hightouch and Metabase, or similar tools and technologies
  • Experience in marketplaces and highly regulated industries would be beneficial.
