Position Overview

In the Senior Front-End Developer role, you can expect to work closely with every part of One North (partnering with industry-leading strategists and designers, building with architects and developers, etc.). In an increasingly competitive digital market, our developers are given the space they need to invent, problem solve, explore, fix, and create.

This role will ideally be based in the Chicagoland area, but we are open to remote locations across the U.S. and Canada.

Responsibilities

• Create beautiful and useful end-user experiences, while simultaneously engineering for performance, accessibility, and maintainability

• Bring an expert-level understanding of the tools, processes, and approaches for building world-class front-end experiences

• Exhibit an appreciation for UX/UI and creative design principles

• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teammates to deliver strategic solutions to our clients’ challenges

• Act as technical expert for front-end projects, giving thoughtful guidance and suggestions

• Provide insight and consult on codebases and component libraries

Skills & Qualifications

• 3 or more years of experience working in an agency or consulting environment highly preferred

• Advanced practitioner of HTML/CSS/JS, using modern, best practices

• Ample experience with JS Frameworks (we currently use React/Next and Vue/Nuxt)

• Considerable experience with SCSS or similar CSS preprocessors

• Ability to develop resilient websites that deliver consistent experiences across screen sizes, devices, and browsers

• Understanding of SEO concepts, especially concerning semantic markup

• Experience with design systems as contributor or consumer (ideally both!)

• Ability and desire to create websites that meet accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1)

• Ability to integrate 3rd party libraries to meet project requirements

• Ability to traverse Git-based repositories and apply version control concepts

• Familiarity with various front-end build tools (e.g., Webpack, Gulp, Parcel)

• Experienced in populating content with both headless and traditional Content Management Systems

• Ability to navigate design platforms (Figma, Figjam) and identify potential conflicts/opportunities

• Experience with JavaScript and timeline-based animation libraries (e.g., GSAP, Three.js)

• Professional curiosity and ability to stay up to date with emerging technologies

• Engaged in industry best practices and standards
