  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 15 years of experience as an engineering leader.
  • Experience motivating others by creating a shared sense of vision and purpose.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Engineering.
  • Experience working with AI: evals, model validation and model deployments.
  • Understanding of Google engineering stack.
  • Ability to identify connections, adopt different perspectives, and quickly respond to changing circumstances in a strategic way.
  • Comfort with changing specifications or standards, and ability to create conditions in which the team feels comfortable and capable of working through in response to ambiguity.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills that drive executional impact at scale.

In this role, you will lead an engineering organization within Google Workspace focused on building a development platform that drives product excellence, while providing a great developer experience to ship products with both high quality and velocity. You will partner closely with Workspace Product, Engineering and Site Reliability Engineering teams as well as many cross-product area partners.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $278,000-$399,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.

Responsibilities

  • Own and set the strategy, roadmap, and implementation for multiple areas of focus, balancing short- and long-term priorities against various business needs. Build a strategy for AI both for driving development experience as well as enabling amazing AI product experiences.
  • Collaborate with partner engineering teams within Workspace and across Google, and cross-functional teams to ensure that the work is aligned with overarching goals.
  • Develop and grow leadership talent through effective mentoring, development, coaching and inspiring, with a strong focus on talent management and instilling a culture of excellence that thrives in a fast-paced environment.
