Senior Estimator - ICI (Waterloo)

The ideal candidate will be sharp and meticulous with a background in estimating for a general contractor, specifically for ICI projects (Institutional, Commercial and Industrial), and will demonstrate an extraordinary commitment to accuracy across Design Builld, Construction Management and General Contracting services.

Our client is is a Waterloo based general contractor with over 30 years' experience in institutional, commercial, and industrial projects.

Description

• Participate in project development activities including scope definition and clarification, preconstruction planning, control estimate development and delivery
• Provide preconstruction services including the preparation of preliminary budgets, cost plans, and value engineering opportunities
• Determine general expenses and provide input into the margins/fees
• Coordinate preparation and performance of full detailed quantity takeoff estimates, identifying inherent risk and opportunities
• Soliciting information from subcontractors and suppliers, and analyzing subcontractor requirements
• Assist in negotiating and awarding of contracts
• Assisting in project planning and scheduling

Profile

• 8-10+ years of estimating experience in Canada
• Preferably someone who has a strong contact network in the area of trades & clients in the region
• Experience in the ICI construction environment, on Design Build, Construction Management and the General Contracting sides of the ICI industry on projects over $5MM+ in value**
• Knowledge of lump sum, construction management and conceptual estimating for ELECTRONIC TAKE-OFFS
• Experience using estimating software an asset (Timberline Estimating, Prime Bid, On-Centre Takeoff preferred)
• Post-secondary education in quantity surveying/estimating, architectural technology or engineering technology
