An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and results-driven Corporate Accountant to join a leading, Toronto-based investment management firm. This role is integral to the growth of the organisation, providing accounting, financial and compliance reporting for corporate entities.

The successful candidate will be involved in enhancing the firm's operating capabilities and controls, ensuring the highest standards of stakeholder responsiveness, quality and data accuracy.

What You'll Do

  • Prepare and enter journal entries and maintain the general ledger.
  • Perform quarterly reconciliations and analysis of all accruals and balances.
  • Assist in preparation and monitoring the timely and accurate payment and collection of invoices.
  • Perform cash flow analysis, forecasting and budgeting of the Corporate group.
  • Prepare timely quarterly and annual financial statements in accordance with Canadian GAAP.
  • Assist with the annual audit of Corporate financial statements.
  • Assist in the preparation of working papers to facilitate compliance reporting.
  • Assist in preparation of annual budgets and quarterly variance analysis.
  • Assist with maintenance of vendor records and resolve vendor related issues.
  • Identify opportunities to further evolve processes, strengthen controls, eliminate inefficiencies and improve scalability.

What You Bring

  • Undergraduate degree in Finance or Accounting.
  • Professional Designation (CPA) preferred.
  • At least 3 years Accounting experience.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and reporting under Canadian GAAP or IFRS.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency.
  • Experience in managing accounting and reporting functions with daily deliverables.
  • Proven track record of initiating process improvement initiatives.
  • Working knowledge of accounting systems such as Quickbooks, Sage or Concur would be an asset.
  • Working knowledge of various tax compliance requirements would be an asset.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
