What you can expect from this position:

Reporting to the Manager, Public Affairs and Stakeholder Relations, this position is responsible for supporting two key areas:


  • Building community trust and vocal champions for Toronto Pearson’s strategic objectives through advocacy, government relations and public affairs program support/activation.
  • Supporting the public affairs and stakeholder relations team in government engagement, outreach to key businesses and aviation industry stakeholders, on issues of strategic importance to the GTAA.


As a Coordinator, Public Affairs and Stakeholder Relations, you will:


  • Assist in the planning and execution of meetings, events, and other public affairs and advocacy campaign activation
  • Support the development and maintenance of strong and effective relationships with government officials (elected and non-elected) and key public affairs influencers to enhance awareness, understanding and engagement in achieving the GTAA’s strategic goals
  • Monitor and report internally on federal, provincial and municipal government proceedings relevant to advancing the GTAA’s strategic objectives
  • Assist with preparation and writing of community/stakeholder communication pieces such as information packages, letters, and regular electronic newsletters
  • Gather background material, statistics, and other data to support the public affairs and stakeholder relations team with correspondence, the creation of briefing notes for key meetings and ad hoc presentation materials
  • Provide support to the Director of Public Affairs for specific internal projects as required
  • Monitor and externally report all GTAA lobbying activities across all levels of government, and lead the operation and maintenance of Quorum, the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tool employed by the public affairs team


This unionized position has an hourly wage of $36.44, based on a 37.5-hour work week. The successful candidate must be available to commence the duties of the position once a selection decision has been made. A test will be administered as a part of the competitive process.

This is the role for you if you have:


  • Post-Secondary degree in political studies, communication, or a closely related field
  • 2- 5 years’ experience in stakeholder or government relations, or in a government/political office
  • Experience dealing directly with elected officials, diverse communities, community groups, community engagement programming
  • Experience in managing and implementing programs that yield positive reputational growth
  • Industry experience in aviation, airline and transportation is considered an asset
  • A valid Ontario G or G2 Driver's License
  • Ability to obtain and retain a Transportation Security Clearance at the designated level for this position

  • Ability to communicate and handle sensitive information with diplomacy and tact
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office and CRM tools
