Test Engineer General

Job Summary

Our client in Waterloo, ON is looking for a Test Engineer General. This is a contract position.

What You Will Do

The successful candidate will be part of the Test Automation & Tools Development team involved in the delivery of the latest automotive infotainment and connectivity technologies. You will support the development and maintenance of a fully automated pipeline that empowers hundreds of developers every day. Your contribution will enable a large fleet of automation nodes to serve cross-functional development teams around the clock.

Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To

  • Perform automated test execution and results analysis, root cause issues and validate fixes.
  • Monitor messaging platforms and provide timely support for development and other test teams.
  • Ensure regular lab equipment maintenance including expansion as needed to maintain optimal operational performance.
  • Support existing solutions with bug fixes and updates as needed.
  • Develop automated test scripts and tools in Python to verify new feature functionality.
  • Contribute to code quality by participating in code reviews.
  • Interface with development and test teams to understand testing requirements.


Basics

  • Bachelor´s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Analytical with the ability to root-cause problems creatively and effectively.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Highly motivated, self-starter, resourceful.
  • Professional experience with object-oriented analysis and design, multi-threading, algorithms, and data structures (co-op experience/schoolwork accepted).
  • Professional experience in Python development (co-op experience / schoolwork accepted).
  • Position fully onsite.


Preferred

  • Experience with CI/CD (continuous integration/continuous deployment) systems (ie: Jenkins).
  • Experience with batch and shell scripting (Windows and Linux command line scripting).
  • Experience with embedded OS (QNX, Linux).
  • Experience with microcontrollers.
  • Experience with automated testing environments and frameworks (ie: PyTest, unit testing, Slash).
  • Experience with Groovy, Java development.
  • Experience with automated GUI testing solutions (ie: Squish, Selenium). Experience with agile methodologies.
