Your Opportunity:

Under the administration of the Registration/Switchboard and Patient Information Supervisor, the overnight Switchboard Operator/Patient Registration position at the Red Deer Regional Hospital is responsible for telecommunication functions that support patients, the public and staff; and provide accesses to services throughout the RDRH hospital and AHS. The switchboard team actions this service using various technologies including a computerized multiline call system and Connect Care Patient Location. Switchboard is responsible for paging facility wide Emergency Codes, connecting on call physicians, health care providers and general inquiries. The Administrative Support III is also responsible for positive patient identification and registration services for the Emergency department. Completion of registration for Inpatient admissions, Ambulatory care, Outpatient, Diagnostic Imaging in Connect Care. Position also includes a variety of other tasks such as taking payments for uninsured services and supplies. This fast-paced opportunity requires an incumbent who can exercise good judgment, initiative and able to work with a high degree of independence, confidentiality, and accuracy. Demonstrated ability to interact in a positive manner, excellent customer service skills, and enjoy working in a team environment.

As an Administrative Support III, you will require advanced administrative or specialized skills and knowledge to support complex procedures, practices and initiatives within a department or program.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Medical Office Assistant or Unit Clerk certificate is required, although other relevant post-secondary education may be considered. Medical terminology certificate. Medical Terminology test will be administered (pass mark of 60%). Keyboarding skills of 40 wpm (corrected for errors), typing test will be administered. Must have a proven record of maintaining privacy and confidentiality with sensitive information and situations. Possess and demonstrate strong interpersonal, communication skills, ability to interact in a positive and respectful manner. Ability to work effectively in a team environment, prioritize and organize work in fast-paced surroundings.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preference will be given to internal Health Information Management qualified candidates with Registration, Switchboard and Patient Information experience and Connect Care training specific to the role. Experience with multiline Switchboard operations.
