GFL Environmental is looking for an experienced Driver - Jitney Truck to join our team in Victoria, British Columbia!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Comfortable driving a converted heavy duty pick-up truck, equipped with inverted forks.
  • Operate Jitney trucks that provide services to a variety of multi-family residential and commercial routes removing and transporting waste or recyclables in fulfillment of customer contracts.
  • Open container enclosures or gates to access cans. As needed, roll 3-4-yard cans on castors into position for dumping.
  • Maneuver truck into and out of minimum clearance spaces, working in confined spaces, taking care not to damage property.
  • “Staging” bins in designated locations, for the front-end trucks to dump, repeating the process multiple times a day.
  • Being in constant and clear communication with the Jitney Lead hand driver and dispatchers to update status of bins.
  • Clean loose trash off of truck and/or ground around truck and container that spills during dumping process to maintain clean customer site and safety along roads and highways
  • Perform daily pre- and post-trip inspections; complete and submit a vehicle condition report at the end of the shift
  • Follows safe operating practices, including lock out/ tag out procedures to ensure proper operation of the truck.
  • Must be able to meet relevant criteria for safety sensitive functions according to Company standards
  • Ability to follow all company safety policies and procedures
  • Work in outdoor environment up to 100% of the time.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License. Air endorsements preferred but not required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers
  • Ability to regularly lift/move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift/move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift/move up to 100 pounds.
  • Sitting may be required up to 75% of the time due to the primary function of driving.
  • Shift options: .4:30am – 1:00 pm OR 1:00 pm – 9:00 pm
