We are looking for a highly motivated, confident individual with strong communication and organizational skills to provide support in a busy and dynamic environment. Working in the Assessment and Taxation Branch with the Assessment Support Team, your primary role will be to ensure information on property accounts is current and accurate for the purpose of assessing, administering, and collecting property tax on properties in the City of Edmonton. You will be required to use your extensive data entry experience, attention to detail, and effective organizational skills to perform a broad range of administrative support services.

What will you do?

  • Input large volumes of information related to rent rolls, income and expense statements, cost letters, etc. into the Tax, Assessment and Collections (TACS) database, audit data entry of peers, and track information on various spreadsheets
  • Validate, process, and track ARAs (agent representation authorization forms) and send out forms according to established timelines
  • Update assessment corrections in the TACS database within critical deadlines based on information received from assessors and the Assessment Review Board (ARB)
  • Compile documentation in response to information requests made under the authority of Section 299/300 of the Municipal Government Act. Prepare and watermark sensitive material within critical deadlines and invoice appropriately
  • Research in POSSE and TACS databases to verify legal descriptions associated with orphan and residential permits. Apply and combine reports for proper information to property accounts and track in spreadsheets
  • Research in POSSE database and document fire-damaged property information in a spreadsheet to track and upload into TACS
  • Contact property owners, agents, and other stakeholders to verify that the assessment information provided is complete and received in the form required by assessment operations and legislation
  • Respond to inquiries from property owners, agents, 311, the Edmonton Service Centre, and various stakeholders related to information/authorization requests or ARB complaints via email, fax or telephone
  • Perform other duties as assigned


Qualifications:

  • Completed high school diploma or GED including business subjects with emphasis on general office practices or completion of an appropriate certificate program from a recognized business school/college
  • Two (2) years of diversified experience in general office practices and procedures including assisting in the instruction of less experienced staff


Assets:

  • Working knowledge of TACS and POSSE would be an asset


Skills required for success:

  • Advanced desktop skills including Google Applications with the ability to learn new programs and applications
  • Accurate data entry skills and proficiency using various computer applications
  • Ability to multitask and handle large volumes of work
  • Customer service skills with the ability to respond to inquiries (verbally and in writing) in a professional and respectful manner

Hours of Work: 33.75 hours per week

Salary Range: $25.172 - $31.257 (Hourly); $44,346.770 - $55,067.020 (Annually)
