Trans Mountain Corporation operates Canada’s only pipeline system transporting oil products to the West Coast. As a Trans Mountain Electrical Technician, you will be expected to provide Operational Support in a multiskilled work environment that promotes public safety, environmental stewardship and pipeline integrity.

In this role, an Electrical Technician would be required to utilize maintenance tracking software to manage, document and verify the functional integrity of protective devices, valve actuators, mainline motors and high voltage infrastructure. The technician would also be expected to work in both Operations and other trades designations as suitably trained and competent.

This position will be based at our Kamloops Regional Office location and will report to the Supervisor, Operations.

Job Duties associated with this position include but are not limited to:

  • Provide Electrical, Operational & Emergency Response support to ensure system reliability, public safety, environmental stewardship and integrity compliance.
  • Install, commission and maintenance of low and high voltage electrical systems.
  • Trouble-shoot electrical circuits, communication networks and control equipment and associated schematics, files and as-built drawings.
  • Analyze, interpret and utilize graphic and other information contained in SCADA displays and P&ID drawings.
  • Provide Operational support to ensure throughput and system reliability.
  • Supports programming and troubleshooting of Local Operator Interfaces and Programmable Logic Controllers.
  • Support Emergency Response initiatives and program.
  • Perform and document Electrical Maintenance as defined by maintenance tracking software, ensuring system reliability and integrity.

Requirements:

  • Journeyman Electrician Certificate (Red Seal and TQ Endorsement) with 3-5 years’ experience working in an Industrial Environment.
  • Instrumentation Red Seal endorsement would be an asset.
  • High School completion required.
  • Previous Electrical Experience and training working with Motor Controls, VFD’s, High Voltage Equipment and Hazardous Location Installations as defined by the CEC (Canadian Electrical Code).
  • Strong understanding of Canadian Electric Code requirements.
  • Maintain a high regard for personal safety, safety of company assets, employees, and the general public.
  • Proficient in the use of the Microsoft Suite of applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Work well in a both Team and Individual environments.
  • Self-motivated, capable of performing tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks as required.
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
