About This Opportunity

Reporting to the Maintenance Foreman, the Tradesperson – Pipefitter will be a key member of the maintenance team to deliver safe and cost-effective pipefitting/maintenance results in the Grande Prairie Region. The successful candidate will part of a multi-discipline team working a 7&7 schedule (Tuesday-Monday 11.5 hrs/day).

Job functions will involve:

  • Environment, Health and Safety must be a priority.
  • Support Maintenance Foreman in delivery of professional support services to Operations which would include support services for pipefitting/general maintenance work orders.
  • Support and initiate safe work practices; following all Paramount policies and procedures.
  • Cut and thread pipe using basic pipefitting equipment including wheeled cutters and threaders.
  • Oversee the activity of 3rd party contractors mobilized to support the Maintenance team.
  • Verify serviceability of materials used in piping systems.
  • Fabricate, install, alter, maintain and/or repair Paramount piping systems in accordance with Paramount policies and procedures.
  • Perform Hydro Test of materials to applicable code of construction to support replacement in kind procedure.
  • Prepare isometric drawings and cost estimates with proper specifications and submit to engineering for approval on identified projects.
  • Inspect, examine, and test installed systems, using approved/calibrated equipment according to accepted corporate procedures.
  • Measure and mark pipes for cutting and threading.
  • Document all activity to Maintenance Foreman using corporate checklists, data reports and project summaries.
  • Maintain a high standard of workmanship, safety awareness and housekeeping.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years trades experience with a strong background in Oil & Gas Operations.
  • Must have accomplished a High School Diploma.
  • Valid Alberta Pipefitter Apprenticeship or Journeyman Certification or Interprovincial Red Seal equivalent.
  • Ability to read and understand drawings as well as to redline and update existing drawings.
  • Experience operating a small picker truck.
  • Strong commitment to Health, Safety and the Environment.
  • Self-starter who is able to work independently with a minimum of supervision.
  • Must possess a valid Class 5 driver’s license and required safety tickets which would include a valid H2S and First Aid certificates.
  • Ability to work within deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Will be required to be on call and work overtime as needed to maintain safe operations.
  • Demonstrated leadership, communication, organizational, time management, interpersonal, and discipline to process skills.
  • Good understanding of business concepts in order to minimize costs.
  • Must be a strong team player with excellent communication, problem solving, decision-making, well organized, reliable and excellent attention to detail skills.
  • Good working knowledge of all Microsoft Office programs. Must be able to learn, adhere to and work with all Paramount based software programs. Experience with a CMMS (Maximo) would be an asset.
  • Proactive and self-starter that demonstrates initiative and an entrepreneurial attitude.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization, partners and stakeholders.
  • Have a creative, open-minded approach with the ability to work independently and as a part of a team.
