Chief Culinary Officer

The Chief Culinary Officer (CCO) is responsible for MHG’s overall culinary strategy and operations. Reporting directly to the CEO, and a valuable member of the MHG Sr. Leadership team, the CCO is a key leader who is instrumental to the success of MHG’s Restaurant Division. The successful candidate will have extensive experience with food preparation and presentation, managing costs and preparing complex budgets. The CCO is a people-focused leader who is able to lead, inspire, coach, teach, develop, and grow the next generation of culinary talent at MHG!

As the Chief Culinary Officer, You Will:

  • Accountable for the culinary strategy, direction, coordination, and evaluation of all culinary operations
  • Collaborate with Head Chef’s and culinary teams at all locations to develop menu’s unique to the restaurant
  • Oversee menu pricing, develop standardized recipes and food presentation techniques while keeping food costs in line with budgets
  • Ensure culinary staff across the organization adhere to company / regulatory standards of quality, safety and cleanliness
  • Collaborate with the CRO to lead, implement, and execute MHG’s annual culinary strategy and business planning process
  • Oversee the sourcing of quality ingredients and sourcing strategies, negotiating the best possible pricing
  • Build relationships with MHG partners and suppliers
  • Coach, educate, mentor, and motivate culinary management teams to foster growth and development to support each culinary leader to reach their full potential
  • Ensure the culinary operations have a culture of support, recognition, and high team member engagement
  • Assist with the sourcing, interviewing and selection process for key culinary talent
  • Assist with recruitment events, co-op / internship programs, build MHG’s brand to attract culinary talent
  • Understand the design, set up and function of all kitchens and restaurant equipment and work with culinary teams to ensure culinary equipment is in proper working order
  • Source, recommend and approve culinary purchases and capital improvements as required
  • Maintain a passion for personal learning and growth, staying up to date with market and industry culinary trends
  • Ensure MHG culinary is always innovating and raising the bar
  • Lead and assist in the planning and implementation of culinary events and festivals, Sommo, CBMF etc.
  • Collaborate with all MHG functions and teams as required (e.g. Marketing, Human Resources, Finance, etc.)

What You Bring

  • 10+ years demonstrated high-level culinary experience with many years as a Head Chef or Operations leader
  • Post-secondary diploma/degree in Culinary or equivalent education and experience
