Hybrid Work Model

At Assent, we proudly embrace a remote-first work model, valuing the flexibility and autonomy it provides our team. We also acknowledge the intangible benefits of occasional in-person workdays. For team members situated within 50 kms/31 miles of our five global offices in Ottawa, Eldoret, Penang, Columbus, and Amsterdam, you can expect to come into the office one day a week. Similarly, those near our co-working spaces in Nairobi and Toronto are encouraged to work onsite once a month.



The Senior Quality Assurance Analyst role is focused on the inspection and auditing of our product and technical processes against established processes and key quality indicators. This role works collaboratively with cross-functional Agile teams that include Developers, Software Analysts and Product Managers to ensure that we deliver new functionality with quality, by understanding requirements and ensuring that they are met, test planning with the team, and meeting delivery criteria. As a Senior member of the team, you will leverage your knowledge and experience with quality best practices to mentor and guide developing colleagues. 

  • Working with internal stakeholders/customers and Product Managers to understand business and end user needs;

  • Working with the Product owner and the Development team to define and document requirements and acceptance criteria in initiatives, epics and stories;

  • Working with the Development team, including Software Developers in Test to plan and document testing for new features and regression tests;

  • Working with Development team to assess gaps in the regression test suite and plan out how to fill in those gaps;

  • Completing a final quality audit by executing end to end workflow and exploratory tests prior to release to ensure that user requirements and project acceptance criteria have been met;

  • Creating, maintaining and communicating team and field issue metrics and KPIs;

  • Understanding all engineering processes and procedures and ensuring that the Development team adheres to them, with an emphasis on,

  • Ensuring that artifacts required for certification audits (SOC2, ISO9001) are created and stored for audits;

  • Documenting release artifacts and associating them to deployments to production (e.g. test case reviews, test results, task management, security checks, train tickets, etc.);

  • Push to production procedures  – ensures that the team follows the defined deployment management process procedures and gates to mitigate risk and deliver with quality. 

  • Driving field ticket processes, including:

    • Ensuring that team field issues are triaged by the team in a timely manner and the team remains within the internal SLA’s for resolution

    • Working with the team to prioritize field issues based on internal/external SLA’s

    • Adding appropriate communications to field tickets

    • Reviewing root cause analysis reports for field tickets, assess for gaps in testing, and making recommendations to fill those gaps

  • Providing technical guidance to developing team members;

  • Be familiar with corporate security policies and support the information security function to protect both information systems and corporate assets from undue risk.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English - you communicate clearly, concisely and with tact;

  • Demonstrated experience of software testing or requirements analysis, particularly web application software across multiple browser platforms.

  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in Software Testing and/or related roles such as Business Analyst;

  • Solid and practical experience with the software development and test life cycle methodologies – particularly SCRUM or Kanban

  • Good understanding and experience of web technologies: HTML, XML and JavaScript;

  • You are a strong team player who can work well with others and focuses on the merits of ideas;

  • You are a critical thinker who can leverage powerful questions to help others see what they’re not looking for, proactively anticipating barriers to quality and working with the team to remedy them;

  • You are solutions-oriented and user-centric in your approach to quality assurance;

  • Organized and process-oriented, ensuring the team is set-up for success in their effort to deliver value;

  • Demonstrated ability to learn and apply new technologies, tools, and practices;

  • Knowledge and experience in basic SQL, programming and/or scripting would be considered an asset.
