Summary

CTV News Vancouver has an opportunity for an experienced television journalist to lead the CTV Morning Live team as its Supervising Producer in the Vancouver newsroom. This key role, supported by the News Director, requires a highly experienced TV news producer and writer with a proven track record of building successful shows in a high paced deadline driven environment. The ideal candidate will be skilled at overseeing and creating engaging, journalistically and legally sound content and taking it to air in the control room.

The Supervising Producer is a management role that involves starting very early in the morning each day and leading a team of associate producers and hosts in generating and producing compelling, original local news and current affairs stories and segments for CTV Morning Live. We are seeking a candidate with deep knowledge of the Vancouver region, strong journalism and people skills and exceptional English writing abilities. The successful candidate will be extremely organized and calm, capable of building and maintaining a staffing and production schedule that ensures smooth operations. A history of success in growing a positive newsroom culture is also essential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Minimum 5 years television producing experience
  • Post-Secondary education in Journalism
  • Social media literacy
  • Excellent news writing ability
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to take program to air in a control room setting
  • Demonstrated knowledge and competency in leading people and teams
  • Strong business acumen
  • All other duties as assigned
Critical Qualifications
  • In-depth knowledge of Lower Mainland and British Columbia current affairs
  • Previous experience producing broadcast content in a local TV newsroom
  • Experience editing an asset
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with interest and ability in leading people and teams
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
