IT Database Developer - Green Plum

Raise is hiring an IT Database Developer - Green Plum for Our Client one of the largest electrical energy suppliers in Canada. This position is a six (6) month contract located in Burnaby, BC. We are actively seeking talented professionals like you to drive these crucial initiatives forward.

Description

The PostgreSQL Backend Developer to Develop in this role will maintain and optimize our databases. Ensure high performance, availability, and security. Collaborate with front-end developers and data engineers.

Accountabilities

• Design, implement, and maintain database schemas, tables, and indexes.
• Develop and optimize SQL queries, and functions.
• Ensure database performance, scalability, and security.
• Perform regular database processes monitoring, tuning, and maintenance.
• Troubleshoot and resolve process issues and performance bottlenecks.
• Collaborate with teams to integrate database functionality into applications.
• Write and maintain documentation for database processes, configurations, and best practices.
• Stay updated with the latest PostgreSQL features and industry trends.
  
  

Requirements

• 5 years of consulting experience in reporting and analytics with proven experience as a PostgreSQL Developer or similar role.
• Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines).
• Experience with Python 3
• Strong proficiency in PL/pgSQL.
• Experience with database design, optimization, and performance tuning.
• Knowledge of PostgreSQL architecture, extensions, and tools.
• Familiarity with high availability and replication concepts.
• Understanding of security best practices for database management.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
• Education and Skills
• Bachelor’s degree or technical diploma in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent
• Excellent technical skills in data models, Dashboard, Analysis, and Web Intelligence
• Excellent performance tuning skills
• Intermediate working knowledge and experience in the design and construction of data/information architectures that enable integrated reporting and analytical solutions
• Intermediate working knowledge of change management procedures and policies
• Excellent communication skills for professional environment, written and spoken
  

Additional Information

• Every contractor must supply their own Windows 10 or 11 Laptop computer for the duration of the assignment.
• Every contractor must supply their own “Smart Phone”. This is needed to gain access to the Organizations network.
