Description: This course is a continued exploration in writing for the stage for students who have already written one act or solo plays. Participant playwrights will complete a full-length play, incorporate complex structures and anti-structure, and advance their voices and skills as playwrights. The class will workshop scenes and prepare staged readings of participant work. A major focus of this course will be processes of development and revision while working with directors, actors, dramaturgs, and other collaborators.

Salary:

  • SL1 - $18,915.79 per full course

  • SL1 Long term - $19,861.58 per full course

  • SL2 - $20,243.53 per full course

  • SL3 - $20,725.52 per full course

  • SL3 Long Term - $21,140.03 per full course

Please note that should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail. 

Duties: All normal duties related to the design and teaching of a university credit course, including preparation and delivery of course content; development, admin. and marking of assignments, tests and exams; calculation and submission of grades; holding regular office hours; supervising any TAs assigned to course, if applicable. 

Minimum Qualifications: Strong record of teaching introductory and advanced playwriting at the university level; strong record of professional activity as a playwright, including published plays, professional productions, and industry awards and recognition; demonstrated teaching ability.
