Segment Director - Mining

Seequent

Date: 6 days ago
City: Vancouver, BC
Contract type: Full time

Seequent builds world-leading subsurface software, helping create a better understanding of the earth to ensure a better world for all.

We are constantly evolving at the forefront of technology to transform how geo-professionals work, eliminating barriers to understanding by connecting software, teams, and the tools they need.

Every day, our customers in over 100 countries work to develop mineral resources more sustainably, design and build better infrastructure, protect the environment, source renewable energy, and help resolve historical challenges such as groundwater contamination and ageing infrastructure.

Our integrated earth modelling, geo-data management, and team collaboration software enables them to see a more complete picture of the earth: because with more understanding comes better decisions – for people and the planet.

Headquartered in New Zealand with global reach, Seequent is the specialist subsurface software company within Bentley Systems. Together, we are helping build a more resilient world.

We’re a high growth, people-centric success story.

Seequent is a Bentley Systems company, working together to build a better future.

The Role

As the Segment Director, you will be accountable for Seequent’s mining market segment globally. This is a multi-faceted senior role where you are the company’s ambassador for mining to the industry. You will define the direction we take and act as the primary advocate and interface for the regions for market insights. Ensuring the voice of the customer and regions is continuously fed back and appropriate actions are taken will be key to this role.

This role has the highest cross-company interface of any other role. You will hold commercial leadership accountability and collaborate across several functions including sales, product, marketing, and operations. You will be the primary domain advocate with an expectation of maintaining a high profile both externally and internally.

What you'll be doing:

  • Strategic Planning: Develop a 3-year business plan with target market personas, value propositions, product direction, and growth opportunities.
  • Industry Engagement: Actively participate in key industry events, such as keynotes, panels, and representation in industry groups and media.
  • Mining Market Analysis: Monitor market activities, mergers and acquisitions, and competitive behaviour. Stay updated on market and technological changes.
  • Customer Focus: Maintain a strong customer focus by retaining strong connections with customers, supporting the regions with key accounts and relevant account plans.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Communicate segment plans with other functions, refine plans against constraints, and align with company objectives.
  • Performance Reporting: Report on financial and management portfolio performance, including sales performance on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
  • Internal Communication: Communicate progress and future plans effectively. Maintain significant knowledge and competency of Seequent software.

In order to be successful in this role, you should have:

  • A minimum of 10 years in an exploration/mining/geoscience experience, demonstrating a strong understanding of the mining value chain and how technology can transform the mining industry.
  • Proven success in providing innovative strategies that have increased sales performance.
  • Demonstrated experience working in a financial and strategic planning role.
  • Technically adept, possessing a strong understanding of software systems.
  • Exceptional communication skills, able to deliver clear and concise messaging and a competent public speaking.
  • Strong analytical skills with a keen interest in conducting research and drawing inferences from raw data.
  • The ability to influence across organisational boundaries.

Research shows that some individuals, particularly women and underrepresented groups, are less likely to apply for jobs unless they meet every single criterion. If you don't think your experience perfectly aligns, or you don't tick all the boxes, please don't rule yourself out! Seequent is committed to hiring a diverse team and encourages individuals of all background and abilities to apply.

Why you will enjoy working with us...

You will be joining a highly skilled, highly productive team of technical experts who are passionate about what we do. We are a friendly, intelligent, and supportive bunch and are looking forward to you bringing your expertise to the team. Our wider team is geographically diverse and from multi-disciplines, so you will have opportunity to work with colleagues from across the globe.
