Position Summary

This position, which reports to the Manager, Diagnostic Imaging and the Medical Diagnostic Unit, is responsible for operational leadership of the Medical Diagnostic Unit programs, by creating an environment of quality, safety and excellence in customer-focused service. The Medical Diagnostic Unit consists of Nuclear Medicine, Echocardiography, Cardiac Stress testing, Holter monitoring, EEG, EMG and Pulmonary Function testing.

This position includes responsibility for day-to-day operational activities including the management of human and material resources; day-to-day staffing and scheduling; development and support of a healthy workplace; monitoring of risk, utilization, key performance indicators and quality control measures; fostering a positive work environment and effective working relationships within the team & throughout the organization; implementation of change management activities; assists with recruitment and onboarding; promotes staff professional development and staff retention; oversees health and safety and IPAC practices in the program.

Qualifications

  • Current registration with the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario;
  • Current registration with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists preferred;
  • Completion of, or proof of on-going leadership/supervisory/management courses and experience;
  • Completion of, or proof of continuing education focused in patient safety/occupational health and safety/ IPAC practices;
  • Experience with patient safety, incident management and radiation safety practices;
  • Training and experience in Nuclear Medicine/echocardiography preferred;
  • Minimum of 3 years of working experience in a Diagnostic Imaging Department, preferably within a hospital;
  • Minimum of 1 year of leadership experience in a Diagnostic Imaging Department;
  • Knowledge and comprehensive understanding of labour relations;
  • Knowledge and comprehensive understanding of quality control and safety measures within the applicable modalities
  • Understanding of and experience with workload measurement, staffing/scheduling and budgeting an asset;
  • Experience in data analytics and quality metrics an asset;
  • Experience in quality improvement, LEAN initiatives an asset
  • Experience with equipment procurement and RFP processes an asset;
  • Experience with computer systems databases; including HIS/RIS and PACS system operations;
  • Excellent with standard computer functions such as email, Excel, Visio, and PowerPoint, etc.;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Good organizational, decision-making skills and project management.
  • Experience as Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) and/or with echocardiography accreditation is an asset
