Your Opportunity:

Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre serves the community of Central Alberta. Our Operating Room consists of 9 OR theatres that specialize in General Surgery, Orthopedic - Trauma and Total Joints, Plastics, Gynecology, ENT, and Urology. Our multidisciplinary team includes Surgeons, Anesthesiologists, Perioperative Registered Nurses, ORTs, Respiratory Therapists II, Anesthesia Assistants and support staff. As a Registered Therapist II in the operating room, you will be responsible for providing care in the intraoperative phase. You will be responsible for working closely with anesthesia. Strong communication and collaboration skills are important; problem-solving skills using critical thinking, time management and adaptability or imperative; leadership and conflict resolution skills are essential to this role.

Description:

As a Respiratory Therapist II, you will coordinate, monitor and assess clinical services in your assigned area. You will act as a clinical resource for daily operations, coordinating the work of therapy assessment and treatment in your service area, and assist in the development of clinical protocols. You will develop and implement respiratory therapy care plans and monitor the progress of patients (clients, residents) receiving advanced respiratory treatment. You will identify new equipment requirements, and establish and maintain adequate levels of supplies and materials for your area. You will be responsible for respiratory equipment, including but not limited to operation, procurement, maintenance, and quality assurance. You will participate in interprofessional patient, client or resident rounds, conferences and meetings where applicable.

Required Qualifications:

Active or eligible registration with the College and Association of Respiratory Therapists of Alberta (CARTA).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Graduate of a recognized school of Respiratory Therapy accredited by the Council on Accreditation, for Respiratory Therapy Education.

Preferred Qualifications:

Graduate of a recognized school of Respiratory Therapy accredited by the Council on Accreditation, for Respiratory Therapy Education.
