Location

Crawford Manor, Surrey (30 minute walk from King George Skytrain Station)

Carr's Place, Surrey (15 minute walk from Gateway Skytrain)

Days and Hours of work

Tuesday and Wednesday (Carr's Place) Thursday and Friday (Crawford Manor)

Shift times will be 09:00 - 17:00 Hours

Shifts are 7.5 hours in length

Days of rest shall be consecutive. Schedule may change with two weeks’ notice

Probationary/qualifying period will be 488 hours with mid and end point

Salary

$31.56 - 33.28 depending upon applicants' length of seniority (as per the Collective Agreement)

Job Summary

To provide direction and support for residents at Sober Living Residence Programs. The staff will participate in the development of treatment and recovery plans and assist clients by determining appropriate care to meet individual needs and situational requirements and identify behaviors that impede rehabilitation. Facilitating individual and group therapy sessions, assessing residents during the detoxification process, and admitting and discharging residents are included in the regular duties. The position may supervise staff.

Job Duties

  • Assesses clients’ physical and psychological status during intoxication, withdrawal, and stabilization. Monitors and documents changes, and makes required referrals to physician or emergency services. Provides input into case management as required from date of entry to date of discharge.
  • Evaluate residents' physical and mental behaviors to refer and assist guests to appropriate programs.
  • Participates in guiding the development of appropriate treatment and recovery plans as part of the case planning process with guests in consultation with the Fraser Health Addiction team.
  • Facilitates clients’ physical, recreational, educational, and employment needs by performing duties such as arranging for clients to be transported to programs/services, assisting clients to attend appointments, and implementing programs.
  • Observe guests, identify and assess potential emergencies, and develop short-term strategies to deal with such situations. Reports medical, behavioural, and other problems as required.

i. Provides feedback and input regarding guests’ needs, performance, and progress.

  • Collaborating with an interdisciplinary healthcare team when necessary
  • Identifying behaviors that interfere with treatment and recovery.
  • Provides supportive counselling, demonstrations, modeling, and behaviour management to clients, their families, and their personal networks, to assist with the development of physical, social, emotional, and life skills such as maintaining personal hygiene, housekeeping, meal planning and preparation, meeting financial obligations, making and keeping appointments, and interpersonal skills.
  • Completes and maintains related records and documentation such as care plans, progress reports, statistics, and daily logs.
  • Responsible for complying with and contributing to all aspects of health and safety program.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Competence

Education, Training and Experience

  • Diploma in Community Social Service
  • Certificates in CPR, First Aid, and Food Safe
  • Must have two doses of COVID 19 Vaccine
  • Criminal Record Clearance – Vulnerable Sector
  • Recent, related experience of two years Or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience Or other Qualifications determined to be reasonable and relevant to the level of work
