About This Opportunity

This exciting opportunity is for a hardware development role in the Hardware development team in Ottawa. This team works dynamically and collaboratively with teams locally and globally and is engaged in all aspects of hardware development for Ericsson’s next generation of radios to meet the exciting customer and business needs around the world. You would be part of an exceptional team developing the next generation of radio hardware for Ericsson; providing you with a unique opportunity to engage in many aspects of the next wave of world leading wireless communication.

What You Will Do

  • Work with radio hardware design from architecture through to volume production.
  • Design, test, introduce into the factory and support hardware.
  • Solve Design problems and provide product solutions and trade-offs.
  • Drive continuous improvements of design, processes, and product quality.
  • Ensure that design is robust and reliable and account for process variations.
  • Encourage/mentor design quality and best design practices/methods.
  • Collaborate with hardware engineers, software developers, and other cross-functional teams to ensure that the design integrate seamlessly with the overall product and meet system-level requirements.
  • Prepare lab environment including both equipment and software components.
  • Implement test and validation methods for efficient design test coverage.
  • Produce documentation as per radio development processes.
  • Perform troubleshooting, including support on debugging field return units.

The Skills You Bring

  • Minimum of B.Sc. or equivalent in electrical engineering or related field.
  • Experience in hardware design, simulations, implementation, and verification.
  • Experience with standard tools used to perform schematic capture and layout (e.g. Cadence).
  • Experience with board level power and grounding layout strategies and implementation for multilayer mixed digital / analog / RF designs.
  • Good understanding of board design and manufacturing challenges
  • Excellent English communications skills.
  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced diverse team environment.

You might also have

  • Previous exposure to radio transceiver digital design and/or test.
  • Experience in analog (RF) hardware design, implementation and verification
  • Experience in standard RF simulation tools
  • Previous experience in designing products for volume production.
  • Previous exposure to working with high speed, high performance ADC and DAC
  • Experience with SI simulations (e.g. HSPICE).
  • Experience with EMC / timing analysis / constraints
  • Experience in writing automated test software, e.g. C, Python, MATLAB
