Lafarge Construction provides Construction services in the City of Edmonton and surrounding areas. Lafarge Construction is based in Edmonton, AB and is currently seeking a seasonal, full-time Screed Operator

Responsibilities:

The accountabilities of this role include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Fully trained in the operations and capability of the screed on a paver.
  • Work as part of a team to operate Paver.
  • Performing repair/maintenance on the Paver under the direction of plant foreman or lead hand.
  • May require considerable physical activity, must be capable of heavy lifting, bending and twisting
  • Assist with a variety of job operations
  • Ensure the safety of company personnel, the community, and environment
  • Responsible for completing daily equipment checklist
  • Monitoring and ensuring accurate thickness of asphalt.
  • Monitor material production within specifications
  • Ensure consistent feed to maintain a quality product


In addition to the above, the successful candidate will be expected to exercise sound judgment, work safely and communicate effectively in a team. This position is physically demanding and requires crouching, bending, lifting, and kneeling. As such, clearance on a pre-employment medical is required. The successful candidate will have a proven record of following safe work procedures and be able to complete field risk assessments.

Qualifications:

The successful applicant will possess the following:

  • Valid Class 5 Drivers License
  • Min 3 years of experience operating a screed
  • Knowledge of City of Edmonton Specifications
  • Mechanically Inclined
  • Knowledge of the City of Edmonton and surrounding area
  • Ability to read survey markings.
