About The Role

Hybrid | Full-time

The position is responsible for continued expansion of ALS’s market position related to the retention and growth of business in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) and along the Highway 401 corridor. The primary focus is the fostering of existing relationships with key clients while building upon the continued efforts of ALS to develop new relationships with industry stakeholders.

A major measure of success through these engagements will include strategic revenue growth through retention of major accounts and acquisition of new key accounts. In this role, you will deliver conference presentations in major markets, while building reputation and credibility through participation in regional and national committees and workshops.

Key Responsibilities

  • Obtain, assess, and report on intel related to market trends
  • Conducting market assessments to assist in developing innovative solutions for clients
  • Expanding existing relationships across multiple industries
  • Contribute to and potentially lead projects related to development of national accounts
  • Reporting on new opportunities and recommending win strategies
  • Addressing account related issues with urgency
  • Attending and speaking at trade shows, networking events, and industry events
  • Working with management or leading response to RFPs
  • Negotiating contracts and agreements, and potentially coaching/mentoring staff on commercial aspects

About You

  • Strong business development skills and adept at building relationships
  • High-level of business acumen (finance, contracts)
  • Experience in commercial negotiation, closing deals
  • Excellent English communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Highly motivated, an independent thinker and able to work as part of a team
  • Strong presentation skills in medium to large group settings (conferences)
  • Strong skills in grasping technical concepts
  • Demonstrated judgement, creativity, integrity, and ability to problem solve
  • A strong orientation towards service quality, technical innovation and continuous improvement
  • Experience with (and a supporter of) CRM software
  • Able to effectively manage change in a dynamic environment and balance multiple priorities
  • Ability to evaluate and recommend improvement to business processes
  • Ability to effectively handle escalations and time critical issues

Required Qualifications

  • Seeking 10 years of experience in a competitive and fast-paced environment
  • Seeking 10 years of experience client service, business development and/or sales roles
  • A science background (college, university) with 10 years of experience in the environmental sector
  • An existing industry network may be a differentiator

Physical Demands

  • Manual dexterity to perform intricate and/or repetitive tasks such as data entry
  • Ability to use and view a computer screen for up to 8 hours per day
  • Ability to sit at a desk and do general office work, which includes periodic sedentary responsibilities
