What We Are Looking For

The Business Controller will play a critical role as a member of the finance team and active business partner to various teams at Volvo Car Canada including Marketing & PR, Commercial Operations, Volvo Car Financial Services (VCFS), Retailer Development and Customer Experience. This position is responsible for managing the reporting of actuals, budgets, and forecasts for the respective departments, ensuring that financials correctly reflect the activities within these departments. The role requires an analytical individual who can drive financial performance in a fast-paced environment, build close relationships, and challenge business partners. It also emphasizes promoting a culture of growth and development within the finance team.

What You’ll Do

  • Accurately consolidate, submit, and perform analysis of actual results, annual business plans and forecasts.
  • Provide analysis of financial performance vs. budget/forecast and prior/sequential actual periods.
  • Evaluate major drivers and fluctuations for period variances and other relevant benchmarks in a timely manner and review with local management.
  • Build business partner relationships to work closely with business owners on understanding their expenses each month and coordinate monthly forecasts to be within the approved plan.
  • Produce timely and accurate monthly financial performance packages for distribution to the executive management team.
  • Continuous maintenance and upkeep of full year profit outlook to bring awareness of changes and potential risks and opportunities to annual market earnings targets.
  • Oversee fixed assets for the company.
  • Drive financial rigor and discipline for strategic investments.

What You Will Bring To Volvo

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance/accounting/business-related field.
  • Strong knowledge of financial systems (SAP and HFM experience preferred), along with advanced proficiency in MS Office (Excel & PowerPoint in particular); Power BI and Copilot knowledge is a plus.
  • 5+ years relevant experience in FP&A with proven advanced analytical skills in financial data, detail orientation, and excellent problem-solving abilities.
  • Proven record of working with a team in a highly collaborative environment that spans across multiple business functions.
  • Ability to effectively communicate financial results and their associated implications to all levels of management.
  • Strong organization and project management skills, with the ability to juggle multiple concurrent high-priority projects while meeting deadlines, being a team player, and seeking continuous improvement in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to automate reporting with continuous new ideas to improve efficiency.
  • High standards of accuracy and precision, operational discipline, and the ability to deliver against tight deadlines.
  • Flexibility, multi-tasking, creative thinking, and good business judgment are essential to meet strict deadlines.
  • High level of mental agility with the ability to connect the dots and offer solutions to problems.
