The Database Administrator (DBA) will be an integral member of IT Operations Team and will play a key role in the successful delivery of IT solutions to our customers. Working closely with infrastructure and application development teams, the DBA will help to ensure consistent database management practices and processes are followed, and architecture models and standards are defined, implemented and managed. The DBA will be responsible for ensuring the successful deployment and management of databases in support of application development activities. The DBA will play a significant role in the development and implementation of databases for major systems, and should be thoroughly experienced in the use of ETL and database management tools. The position requires skills necessary for the maintenance, support and security of existing databases residing on internal and external networks.

The ideal candidate will be proficient in the development, troubleshooting and optimization of SQL queries and stored procedures, with a broad base of related technical skills. Highly focused on customer service and satisfaction, this person excels in developing and maintaining strong client relations. The successful candidate must possess superb written and verbal communication skills and enjoys working in teams for collaborative troubleshooting/resolution of complex multi-disciplinary technical problems.

Responsibilities:

  • Installation and configuration of Oracle RDBMS software.
  • Monitor and apply RDBMS patch management.
  • Manage production Oracle including high availability solutions (RAC, Data Guard)
  • Create and maintain scheduled RDBMS jobs.
  • Implement and enforce defined security models and database audit policies.
  • Provide second-line technical support for database-related issues.
  • Create and monitor RMAN backup/recovery strategies.
  • Implement and test defined RMAN backup/recovery strategies.
  • Define and implement database standards.
  • Implement and enforce database change control processes and procedures.
  • Develop complex database procedures, functions triggers and SQL scripts.
  • Provide technical support to application development team.
  • Participate as a database technical specialist in project teams external to the IT department.

Qualifications:

  • University degree or a college diploma in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with Database administration of major RDBMS including at least 2+ years working in Oracle environments.
  • Sound knowledge of SQL and Oracle Enterprise Manager.
  • Strong Linux/Unix skills.
  • Sound knowledge of data warehouse concepts.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English, both oral and written.
  • Willingness to provide on-call support.
  • Knowledge in MS SQL Server, Postgres, MySQL/MariaDB a plus. Willingness to learn and work these platforms is a must.
