The Department of Family and Community Medicine (DFCM) is recognized internationally for its clinical, educational and research excellence. We wish to advance a vision for high-quality primary health care across the communities we serve and beyond, bringing our expertise in academic family medicine and primary care in service of the needs of the health system.

As part of this vision, the Office of Health System Partnership (OHSP) was established to solve complex problems by drawing on our expertise in academic family medicine and primary care practice to address priority issues in primary care. The OHSP’s leadership team is deeply embedded in the health system, bringing together local, provincial,national, and global expertise. As a result, the OHSP is leading and supporting multiple projects that will drive consensus building among experts and primary care thought leaders to develop evidence-informed pragmatic solutions to advance and strengthenprimary care.

As Research Officer for the OHSP, you will support program evaluation and/or implementation science research studies aimed at improving primary care. You will be hands on in executing both qualitative and quantitative research methods to collect data, analyze results and conduct systematic literature reviews. You will support the coordination of research project activities, such as coordinating meeting schedules and liaising with project partners. Your project coordination, interpersonal and attention to detail will support stakeholders in meeting deadlines and deliverables.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Coordinating tasks for projects and other strategic initiatives with stakeholders, including informing on project progress and coordinating meeting schedules
  • Fostering positive relationships with project partners
  • Implementing and executing qualitative and/or quantitative research methods
  • Liaising with agencies, collaborators, industry sponsors, faculty and other stakeholders regarding funding applications
  • Synthesizing technical, qualitative, and contextual research data
  • Conducting systematic literature reviews and preparing draft statistical reports and summaries from data collected; Drafting presentation materials
  • Handling sensitive and/or confidential information

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • Minimum two (2) years of relevant experience coordinating research project tasks in a academic or healthcare environment.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing and executing qualitative and quantitative research methods.
  • Demonstrated research writing experience, including systematic literature reviews, research summaries, and presentation materials.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with analyzing and synthesizing research data.
  • Strong experience with funding applications.
  • Experience preparing surveys and questionnaires.
  • Basic knowledge of research software (such as Qualtrics, NVivo, Stata, SPSS, R).
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communications skills (oral and written) with an ability to multi-task and prioritize competing demands.
  • Ability to foster positive relationships with various groups, including agencies, industry sponsors, and other internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong understanding of maintaining sensitive and/or confidential information.
  • Strong commitment to accuracy and attention to detail.
