Position Overview
The Executive Director, Clinical Services and Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) is responsible for providing strategic and operational support to the COO. They will lead the nursing and allied professions and ensure the development of and adherence to professional ethics and standards of nursing/allied practice throughout the geographic area. The incumbent is dedicated to the integration of acute and community programs and services as well as continually improving the level of patient/client care provided.
The Executive Director, Clinical Services and Chief Nursing Officer assumes responsibility for the effective and economic administration of the Renal Health, Urgent Care, Family Medicine, Rehab/Geriatrics Programs and other assigned departments or services. The incumbent will contribute to the overall administration of the hospital through participation in a number of policy setting, planning, budgetary, and quality assurance activities. In addition, they will serve on a variety of hospital committees and may participate in inter-hospital liaison activities on an assigned or authorized basis.

The WRHA legal entity includes Churchill Health Centre, Deer Lodge Centre, Golden West Centennial Lodge, Grace Hospital, Middlechurch Home of Winnipeg, Pan Am Clinic, River Park Gardens, Victoria General Hospital, WRHA corporate programs, and WRHA community health services.

Experience
- Seven (7) years of progressively responsible management and leadership experience within nursing and healthcare administration.
- Experience in community health or social services preferred.
- Extensive experience in service delivery and business operations.
- Experience in establishing detailed annual operational plans.
- Ability to lead and participate in both short- and long-term planning.
- Experience in human resource management, financial management and quality improvement required.
- Experience with facilities management is desirable.
- Experience in program planning, development and evaluation required.
- Master’s degree required. If Masters is in a discipline other than Nursing, Baccalaureate degree in Nursing Required.
- Recognized course in Health Care Management an asset.
- Current active practicing registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba.
- Sensitivity to detail and accuracy.
- Demonstrated superior leadership and communication skills.
- Evidence of initiative as well as creative problem-solving.
- Superior interpersonal skills and ability to maintain effective working relationships.
- Ability to work in a complex environment that includes working with the various acute and community department and programs.
- Ability to work with all levels of staff, management, and professionals in diverse groups and across sectors.
- Ability to actively promote and support integration of services.
- Proven leadership, creativity, integrity, initiative and communication skills.
- Strong analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Strong collaborative, interpersonal and relationship or team building skills.
- Strong client/patient focus.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Experience in process improvement methodologies such as LEAN, an asset.
