Reporting organizationally to the Executive Director, Safety & Security - Canada, the Senior Manager, Safety & Security – Canada will be a key member of the Safety & Security team, and work in close collaboration with the Safety & Security Teams of the Canadian host cities of Toronto and Vancouver, as well as Mexico, the USA, and other key individuals responsible for safety and security operations. Responsibilities will include leading collaboration and coordination in the areas of venue security, risk assessment, emergency preparedness, and public safety / private security integration. Further, this role will transition from FWC2026 Canada Headquarters (Toronto) to a FWC2026 CAN venue site prior to and during the tournament.

THE POSITION

The main responsibilities and oversights of the Senior Manager, Safety & Security - CAN for the FIFA World Cup 26 include:

  • Participate in the development and implementation of comprehensive safety and security strategies to ensure the protection of participants, spectators, and assets throughout the World Cup.

  • Participate in the development and implementation of plans for threat detection, prevention, and mitigation, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, standards, and protocols set by FIFA and relevant authorities.

  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with stakeholders, including event organizers, government entities, and security vendors.

  • Stay informed about potential security risks and emerging trends through intelligence gathering and analysis.

  • Participate in the development and implementation of comprehensive crowd management strategies to ensure a safe environment for all attendees.

  • Collaborate with other departments to integrate safety and security considerations into event planning and operations.

  • Manage budgets and resources effectively to support safety and security operations.

  • Partner closely with the Safety & Security teams in each Canadian host city for an integrated cross-country security approach.

  • Provide regular reports, updates, and recommendations to senior management regarding safety and security matters.

Education & Qualifications
  • Bachelors Degree or similar work-based qualification.
Work Experience

  • Minimum of 12 years of experience in safety & security, including significant involvement with stadium sporting events and other major events.

  • Strong project management skills.

  • Capability to write documents and present in front of large groups. 

  • High organizational and communication skills.

  • Knowledge of organizing private security services would be an advantage. 


Languages
  • Fluent in English. French proficiency is a plus.
Technology
  • Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio & Project) and planning software and online collaboration tools.
