ABOUT BUSINESS TRANSFORMATION

The Business Transformation team identifies and addresses opportunities for improvement within the Operations portfolio (national scope) and provides support to field, regional, and home office stakeholders. The team focuses on four main areas – Business Intelligence, Process Improvement, Solution Design and Delivery, and Decision Support – and specializes in the use of innovation and creativity in making sustainable transformation and change.


POSITION SUMMARY:

As the Decision Support Analyst (People), you are a vital member of our collaborative team, crafting digital and data solutions that enhance our HR operations and support our People Everything strategy. Your structured approach to timely reporting and expertise at framing actionable insights will connect People data to strategic objectives, simplifying complexities and driving organizational growth. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Data Analytics | Drive data analytics capabilities, including visually appealing digital solutions (e.g., dashboard/report development)
  • Lead the development of data and digital solutions, including People-focused dashboards and digital reporting
  • Liaise between Human Resources, Business Intelligence, and other internal parties of interest using a strong customer-focused and human-centred design approach to developing data solutions
  • Collect and gather user requirements, and support the development of acceptance criteria, to ensure solutions meet business needs and stakeholder expectations
  • Conduct quality checks, QA and user acceptance testing and change assessments ensuring new/revised digital and data solutions are aligned with strategic initiatives and meet user requirements
  • Validate data integrity and quality, including data sources, derived data, and data definitions
  • Design queries, interpret results, and resolve data quality issues to support decision making
  • Drive initiatives for data integrity and standardization of People data
  • Lead innovative methods to identify, gather, and use data effectively, supporting impactful People metrics
  • Data Reporting | Support stakeholders to meet required reporting needs
  • Develop and maintain a reporting schedule to meet identified People-data reporting requirements
  • Handle time-sensitive ad-hoc reporting requests
  • Build, generate, and utilize reports from People-data systems (e.g., Taleo, PeopleSoft) and other systems, as necessary
  • Data Analysis | Support and engage stakeholders through shared observations and insights, and coaching on digital and data solutions
  • Transform data into actionable insights using a variety of systems and tools
  • Provide sustainable and impactful recommendations aligned with organizational goals, through a detailed review and analysis of HR data
  • Communicate complex concepts and analysis results to accelerate decision making by parties of interest
  • Assess program and performance outcomes
  • Mentor colleagues on data access, interpretation, and action
  • Aggregate qualitative and quantitative data into meaningful measures (e.g., keyword analysis, theming, data storytelling)
  • Train and coach colleagues on reports, dashboards, and digital solutions

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5+ years of experience in data analytics, with a focus on HR/People data systems (e.g., PeopleSoft, Taleo) and data migrations
  • Post-Secondary education in HR, Business, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, Data Analytics or equivalent experience
  • Solid understanding and experience applying HR-related data in reports and data analysis
  • Certification in People Analytics considered a strong asset
  • Expertise in data reporting, analysis, and data-informed storytelling, particularly with workforce data; data analysis work in an Oracle PeopleSoft environment considered an asset
  • Proven track record of implementing efficiencies within the reporting process
  • Interest in using data to explain past, current, and future states
  • Fluent in translating user requirements into technical, data-based requirements and vice versa
  • Expert analysis skills, including query building and data integrity/accuracy validation
  • Strong technical competence with reporting tools/systems (e.g, MicroStrategy), and statistical analysis
  • Highly organized to manage a People-data portfolio including completing routine reporting needs, conducting data integrity checks, performing complex data analysis, while supporting strategic projects continuous improvement and key strategic people- and workforce-related programs
  • Thorough, detail-oriented, curious and strong problem-solver, solutions- and results-driven, with strong customer service skills
  • Self-motivated and an independent worker who flourishes in a work-from-home environment

PREFERENCES:

  • Experience with various data analysis and visualization applications (e.g., Python, SQL)
  • Familiarity with MicroStrategy
  • Custom report/dashboard development experience
