We are seeking a DEI practitioner who has a commitment to assist with our evolution by serving as a lead champion for driving positive change while embedding DEI throughout our business. This role executes on the DEI strategy by assisting the Director, DEI in evaluating our opportunities, evolving our processes, policies and practices. The position has a hands-on approach to change management, while collaborating with global teams and DEI champions, committees, and employee resource groups. As Senior Manager, DEI, you will:

  • Assist with continuing to evolve the DEI roadmap, envisioning a future state, proposing solutions that leverage our best practices, trends and insights.
  • Partner with Human Resource peers to embed DEI through all aspects of our people strategy.
  • Participate in the Global DEI council, and corporate DEI network.
  • Coordinate and/or design opportunities to celebrate and learn more about diversity to build our fluency.
  • Effectively build internal and external relationships to champion a culture of psychological safety.
  • Understand how the business operates and identify opportunities to advance the DEI strategy.
  • Connect with internal communities and capture feedback to influence the strategy.
  • Foster inclusion, by collaborating with the Emera DEI champions to identify opportunities and share best practices.
  • In collaboration with the Director of DEI assist with determining related priorities at Emera Corporate and the Emera affiliates, where required, to achieve their goals.
  • Provide support on complex and nuanced employee relations situations as appropriate.
  • Recommend, develop, and deliver, engaging education workshops, panels, speakers that integrate diversity, equity & inclusion principles, where appropriate.
  • Track, evaluate, and report on the effectiveness of diversity activities through measurement, globally and locally. Present and/or report on milestone progress toward strategic priorities.


You will be responsible for your personal safety and that of co-workers, by observing all Occupational Health and Safety Rules and Regulations.

What skills will make you successful?

  • A minimum of 7 years of HR or other related experience with recent experience working in the area of DEI.
  • Demonstrable cross-cultural awareness.
  • Post secondary education in related field or relevant experience.
  • Experience in developing, promoting, educating successful DEI strategic plans and processes across a diverse employee population to scale and for sustainability.
  • Proven ability to create and implement organizational strategic plans; proven project and program management with a focus on process improvements.
  • Knowledge of laws across all jurisdictions and policies affecting marginalized groups and ability to integrate these perspectives into DEI programs.
  • High level of strategic agility, creativity, attention to detail, critical decision making, and strong ability to execute.
  • Superior written and oral communication skills and demonstrated ability to develop and present issues to a diverse group in a compelling and influential manner, at all levels.
  • The incumbent will work closely with the Director, DEI with the opportunity to develop their skills and their career.
