Job Description

The Manager, Halifax IT Operations, will work collaboratively with IT Leaders, business stakeholders, and technology partners to lead and develop a team of passionate technologists in delivering products and services that enable our businesses.

This role will be responsible for infrastructure and operations and customer project delivery for J.D. Irving Ltd., Nova Scotia based businesses. The successful candidate will lead a dynamic team that enables our fast-growing business covering manufacturing, retail, transportation, natural resources, and consumer products. 

Responsibilities

  • Build, develop and empower people through cultivating a high-performance team
  • Deliver a reliable user experience that enables a simple, efficient, and first-class service
  • Deliver reliable, secure, and scalable infrastructure services
  • Deliver new products and services and operationalize (monitoring, training, documentation)
  • Sponsor and oversee the delivery of projects including requirements/scope development, prioritization, and cost
  • Manage and prioritize workload and deliver to commitments
  • Manage risks and vulnerabilities to ensure a secure environment
  • Manage to operating expenses and capital budgets
  • Staying current on technology trends in networking, compute/storage, cloud and end user technologies

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM field, or technical diploma
  • 7+ Years of Management in Infrastructure, Operations, and/or IT Service Delivery
  • Experience in complex, Enterprise IT environments
  • Experience leading and coaching diverse teams
  • Experience in Continuous Improvement an asset (Lean, Six Sigma)

All successful applicants must meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
