As a member of the Learning and Change team, the Learning Solutions Specialist is considered an expert in the learning and development profession and may coach and mentor Learning Solutions Designers. The Learning Solutions Specialist champions the need for clear requirements, learner impacts and positive experiences to be a priority for all projects and/or initiatives. You will work on medium to large projects or initiatives (scope and/or complexity), by taking the lead on the assessment, design, development, implementation and evaluation of the Learning Solutions plan. You will provide plans, schedules and status updates to the initiative/project sponsor and work in partnership with the Project Manager (where applicable) to integrate project plans and timelines, present findings, issues and/or recommendations on areas related to the stakeholder's readiness to adopt/adapt the change(s) being implemented. The Learning Solutions Specialist may also serve as the global viewpoint for learning solutions on several smaller projects, looking at the consolidated impacts and/or opportunities across multiple projects, and designing the most optimal solutions to ensure learners have what they need to thrive.

Key functions include:

  • Performing independent research on new learning & development methods, practices, programs and/or products
  • Collaborating to ensure the designed solutions not only meet the learner and business requirements but are also aligned with and support progress of the organization's cultural objectives and values
  • Leading and motivating the project/initiative team to higher levels of performance and setting example of the type of behaviour and attitude expected

Our ideal teammate will have:

  • Bachelor's degree or diploma in Adult Learning/Education, Instructional Design or a related discipline
  • Eight years of instructional design experience post degree or ten years of experience -post diploma/certificate, including six years working in a project/initiative environment (setting and following workplans and schedules to achieve desired goals)
  • Two years of experience leading cross-functional teams
  • Intermediate knowledge of learning and development methodology processes, and standards such as Analysis, Design Development, Implementation and Evaluation (ADDIE)
  • Intermediate Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, working in a Microsoft Teams and SharePoint environment
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Facilitation, presentation and coaching skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Preference will be given to those familiar with the Articulate 360 Suite of applications and who have worked with Learning Management Systems (LMS) to publish content.

An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered. Subject to competition response, the minimum qualifications may be modified.

An Eligibility List generated from this competition may be used to fill future vacancies at the same level within a period of up to 12 months.
