This role is crucial in ensuring our technology infrastructure remains robust, reliable and resilient against disruptions and that ATCO technology recovery strategies are aligned to the business requirements and objectives. Senior Analyst, Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery will work with the Business Continuity teams and resources across the ATCO BUs to integrate into technology approach the recovery goals (Recovery Time Objective (RTO), Recovery Point Objectives (RPO), availability and redundancy requirements determined as a result of business impact assessments and business continuity planning that are conducted by the BUs.

Reporting to the Senior Resiliency Services Manager, the Senior Business Continuity & Recovery Strategy Analyst will be responsible for developing, implementing, maintaining and updating business continuity and risk management strategies from a technology perspective to support operations across the enterprise. You will partner and collaborate with stakeholders from across the organization to understand the interplay between their business and the technologies that support them – and ultimately the impact of an outage to be able to develop effective risk mitigation strategies.

The responsibilities of this role also include gathering, consolidation and maintenance of the business recovery requirements ensuring their currency and integration within the ATCO asset management systems (ServiceNow).

You will collaborate extensively with various ATCO and Vendor technical teams and act as a Subject Matter Expert and facilitator to support the alignment and integration of the business requirements and required business continuity measures into the ATCO disaster recovery plans and ATCO Technology and Global Security Business Continuity Plan.

The role is additionally responsible for the maintenance of the ATCO Disaster Recovery plans, support of the ATCO Disaster Recovery Remediation and Enhancement program including development and implementation of the operational processes and plans to support repatriation and delivery of the Resiliency services and support of the Resiliency service strategy management and planning including continuous service improvement.

What Else You Get To Do

  • Working with Resiliency Services Technical lead and various business and technology stakeholders, support update and maintenance of the Technology and Global Security Business Continuity Plan and ATCO disaster recovery plans to ensure the availability and integrity of technology systems and data and in alignment with the relevant industry standards, regulations, and company policies
  • Conduct risk assessments and business requirements analysis to identify critical systems and potential threats in line with the business impact
  • Ensure that recovery requirements are current, and that recovery objectives and service criticality assessments are integrated into the ATCO asset management systems.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of plans, procedures, and recovery processes.
  • Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices related to business continuity and disaster recovery.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve business continuity and disaster recovery strategies to address evolving threats and challenges.
  • Support development and maintenance of the service plans, operational processes including process documentation and other supporting artifacts required to provide resiliency services to the ATCO stakeholders.
  • Support planning and execution of the scope included in the ATCO DR Program aiming to address prioritized DR deficiencies and gaps for the ATCO critical systems.
  • Serve as a key member of the major incident response team, crisis response team providing coordination and support during the execution of the Technology and Global Security Business Continuity Plan and/or ATCO Disaster Recovery plans (s).
  • Support the recovery efforts for technology systems, ensuring timely restoration and continuity of operations

Who You Are:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Relevant certifications are highly desirable (e.g., CBAP – Certified Business Analysis Professional, CFCP – Certified Functional Continuity Professional (DRI Canada), CBCP – Certified Business Continuity Professional (DRI Canada), MBCP – Master Business Continuity Professional (DRI Canada)
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in IT with at least 3 years in a technical lead role focused on disaster recovery.
  • Proven experience in business continuity planning, disaster recovery, and IT infrastructure management is a desired asset.
  • Strong technical and business acumen to understand technology systems/applications and how they support business processes for a wide variety of stakeholders across varied lines of business.
  • Superior business analysis and/or systems analysis skills and competencies
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to perform under pressure.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Effective collaborator with proven ability to develop and maintain strong cross-functional partnerships across various levels of organization
  • Self-starter with a proactive approach to ensuring business operations can continue with minimal interruption during and after adverse events
