Position Overview

We are currently looking for an experienced Project Manager with knowledge of Hollow Metal Doors and Pressed Steel Frames.

Accounting Capabilities

  • Analyze architectural drawings and other documentation to successfully deliver projects with specification compliant products, on time and within budget.
  • Knowledge of estimating techniques, cost control and material pricing
  • Management of Projects for the full project lifecycle, from Award to Handover, on 'Supply Only' and 'Supply and Install' scopes.
  • Review and issue shop drawings for client approval.
  • Obtain and submit samples for client approval.
  • Material take-off and ordering
  • Liaise with the fabrication team to ensure timely delivery of material to site.
  • Site visits to review progress and quality.
  • Cost control of material, labour, equipment, subcontracts, construction facilities, etc.
  • Foster relationships with customers, subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Selection of subcontractors and suppliers based on specified products and cost.
  • Develop and review subcontractor scopes of work and quotes for best value.
  • Prepare project schedules and ascertain labor requirements.
  • Maintain files of working documents for back-up as may be required.
  • Update cost forecasts at least monthly and escalate concerns where necessary.
  • Prepare and issue Operation and Maintenance and Warranty documentation.
  • Prepare any other necessary documentation as required for the project.
  • Some out of town travel may be necessary.

Experience / Capabilities

  • Minimum of 2 years Project Management experience on Commercial Projects.
  • Experience with Hollow Metal Doors, Pressed Steel Frames and Architectural Hardware.
  • Certified Architectural Hardware Consultant (or working toward certification) would be a significant asset.
  • Advanced Project Management skills to effectively communicate with business owners, decision makers, engineers, product managers, project managers, engineers, and vendors.
  • Ability to read and understand architectural drawings, specifications, contracts, etc.
  • Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision while exercising great judgment.
  • Strong ability to multitask, prioritize and work well under pressure to meet established deadlines.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong analytical skills, excellent communication skills and strong attention to detail
  • Computer skills in Microsoft Office (word/excel/email) and organizing files (ie. OneDrive, Procore, Dropbox, FTP, etc.)
  • Field construction experience is desirable, but not mandatory.
  • Previous estimating experience would be an asset.
  • Good English written and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Canadian codes and standards.

Education

  • A bachelor's degree in Construction management, Engineering or related field preferred. A comparable level of extensive experience will be taken into consideration.
