Fort Garry Industries has an exciting opportunity for a Payroll Administrator to join our team at our corporate head office in Winnipeg.
What You Will Do:
- Prepare and distribute biweekly payroll for all employees
- Maintain and update employee information, such as employee files, records of employee attendance, leave and overtime to calculate pay and benefit entitlements in Canadian currency
- Prepare and update various payroll-related spreadsheets (tracking education assistance programs, boot allowances, vacation time, etc.).
- Prepare monthly spreadsheets for the accounting department (accrual journals)
- Respond to employee and branch inquiries as required
- Assist with group insurance benefits and reconcile monthly billing
- Assist with the administration of FGI’s short-term disability program
- Calculation of car taxable benefits
- Distribute T4’s
- Other duties as assigned
- Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation required. PCP candidate with extensive experience may be considered
- Experience with Payworks payroll program preferred.
- 3-5+ years experience with payroll on a computerized system preferred
- Excellent customer service skills – dedicated to exceeding the expectations of internal and external customers.
- Strong written and verbal skills with the ability to write and speak succinctly with customers and colleagues.
- Basic to proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (email, word, excel) and ability to learn in-house systems.
- Post secondary education in payroll or accounting an asset
- Knowledge of general accounting principles, payroll procedures and employments standards are assets.
- Heavy duty parts knowledge or background an asset
