On behalf of our Higher Education Client, Ignite Technical Resources is recruiting for an Emerging Technology Developer (AI and XR) to join their team in a part-time/full-time permanent position.
Summary Of The Role
The Emerging Technology Developer will work with cutting-edge technologies, focusing on AI (including Machine Learning and Generative AI) and Extended Reality (XR) such as Virtual and Augmented Reality. The role involves working closely with both the Emerging Media Lab and Digital Experience Lab, contributing to proof-of-concept projects and innovative software development at the intersection of emerging technologies and research.
Duties & Responsibilities
This is a part-time/full-time permanent position based in Vancouver, BC. The work model is Hybrid, with occasional onsite presence required (once a month or less). Candidates must be available to start in mid-November. There may be reference checks required prior to receiving an offer.

The role involves working closely with both the Emerging Media Lab and Digital Experience Lab, contributing to proof-of-concept projects and innovative software development at the intersection of emerging technologies and research.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Design and develop AI-based solutions, from concept through to implementation.
- Leverage Generative AI, Large Language Models (LLMs), and XR technologies to create software tools.
- Write, test, and maintain high-quality code, ensuring adherence to best practices through regular reviews.
- Stay updated on AI and ML advancements, integrating new solutions into development processes.
- Explore AI development options within existing enterprise tools and stay informed about vendor trends.
- Collaborate with the Digital Experience Lab to align technical solutions with project goals and stakeholder needs.
- Gather and analyze business requirements, ensuring developed solutions meet user needs.
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation and provide training for AI tool adoption.
- Perform other related duties as required.
- Minimum of 3 years of software development experience, with a focus on AI and ML technologies.
- Proficiency in coding languages such as Python, Java, or C++.
- Experience with AI development frameworks and tools, such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, and Hugging Face.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
- Experience with Generative AI and LLM platforms.
- Familiarity with open-source platforms.
- Experience in a post-secondary educational environment is preferred.
