Power Supply Designer

Agilus is recruiting for a Power Supply Designer in the power conversion industry in Markham, Ontario.

The Power Supply Designer - Electrical Design Engineer will be responsible for supporting or leading power supply development projects or sub-project of small to medium complexity from kickoff through to manufacturing introduction.

A typical day:

• Receive complex design guidance
• Ensure the technical integrity of the design.
• Interface with the customer to communicate technical information.
• Implement microcontroller firmware and hardware for power management/control functions in power supplies.
• Ensure the design is documented according to ISO9001 procedures.
• Perform schematic entry, calculations, simulations, & bread-boarding in the design process
• Design circuits and perform tests and evaluations for design verification & integrity

Successful candidates will have:

• Bachelors in Electrical Engineering or Electronics Engineering
• 3 - 5 years of experience in high frequency power supply design
• Experience in switching power supplies AC/DC, DC/DC with various topologies (Full-Bridge, Half-Bridge, Forward, Boost, Flyback, Soft Switching, Bridgeless PFC, synchronous rectification, current sharing, etc.) and knowledge in resonant converter such as LLC, LCC converters.
• Experience with Wide band Gap devices like SiC and GaN devices and their application in power electronics circuits.
• Experience in design and optimization of magnetic components like transformers and Inductors for power electronics.
• Experience in Analog circuit design (Analog circuit with transistor Level, Op-Amp, D/A, A/D, interface with micro-controller, sensing techniques and calibration)
• Theoretical and experience in Control theory Techniques, Z-transformation, and digital control systems for power electronics application. Familiarity with control algorithms, such as PID, and their implementation in microcontrollers for closed-loop regulation and stability in power supply designs.
• Hands-on experience in product development activities: bench instrumentation, soldering parts, bread-boarding and testing circuits.
