As a Design Team Lead (Rogers Drafting), you will play a pivotal role in ensuring that all design projects meet the highest standards of accuracy and quality. This leadership position will involve acting as a subject matter expert on Rogers Drafting Standards, supporting internal teams through expert guidance and training, and conducting quality assurance reviews of spatial drafting to ensure full compliance.

You will be responsible for reviewing and interpreting site drawings, leveraging your expertise to digitize plans, and providing insight on improvements to drafting processes. Your work will ensure seamless project execution while fostering collaboration across various teams and partners.

You Will Have The Opportunity To

  • Act as the subject matter expert on Rogers Design and Drafting Standards, ensuring adherence across all relevant projects
  • Develop and deliver comprehensive training sessions to internal employees on Rogers Design and Drafting Standards, promoting understanding and consistency
  • Conduct thorough quality assurance reviews of spatial drafting work to confirm compliance with Rogers Standards and identify areas for improvement
  • Review and interpret site drawings, leveraging experience to accurately digitize plans
  • Drafts and designs new plant, plant extensions and as-builts utilizing the client specific software
  • Produce various maps for construction purposes
  • Updates RF and/or Fiber Design databases and maintains system maps including base map, cable, fiber routes, addresses & RF design including commercial, SFU, MDU, node profiles & powering data
  • Completes system design by gathering information from cable designs, calculating powering and level analysis and selecting appropriate location for power supplies & nodes
  • Imports AutoCAD, TIFF or other file formats and hard copy maps to create electronic base maps for road bases, MDU’s & Strand routing
  • Designs fiber optic communications network and Cable TV system to Client design specifications
  • Incorporates field changes and as-built changes from draft prints to the system database
  • Communicates with the Permit department and Coordinators in order to gather and provide accurate information with regard to construction design and drafting
  • Determines method to design the plant change with minimal impact to the system/customer and minimize related construction cost & ensures quality of design
  • Coach and provide training to more junior employees
  • Complete projects within prescribed time limits

THIS ROLE IS FOR YOU IF YOU HAVE THE FOLLOWING SKILLS AND QUALITIES:

  • 3 - 5 years’ experience in a related field of Telecommunications
  • Leadership Qualities and experience is an asset
  • Must be proficient with AutoCAD (2015 or newer)
  • Familiar with construction methodologies an asset
  • Computer literacy in Windows, Microsoft Office
  • Working knowledge of engineering design and survey methods
  • Ability to work and focus on a project in a fast-paced environment with an upbeat attitude
  • Dynamic and able to maintain excellent relations clients
  • Proven organizational and interpersonal abilities
  • Resourceful, adaptable, high integrity, self-starter
  • Organized, self-disciplined, reliable and capable of evaluating workload and obtaining cooperation of other departments
  • Good communication skills, self-assurance
  • Capable of working under pressure, sense of urgency
  • Preferably have a valid driver’s license and access to personal vehicle to attend site visits on behalf of the company as required
