Auditor must reside in the Eastern Region of Canada and Nova Scotia.
Overview
The Sustainable Seafood Chain of Custody Auditor is a contract position, working independently or in teams. The auditor travels to client offices, processing plants, and consumer-facing organizations to assess practices and systems relative to the MSC, ASC & RFM certification standards. Assessments involve document review, employee and contractor interviews, and on-site evaluation of field activities. Detailed assessment reports must be written and submitted on time. SCS provides ongoing training.

Audit Coordination
- Schedule and confirm audit date with client
- Prepare and send client audit plan according to protocols
- Book travel, hotel and transportation according to company policy, and submit expense reports
- Adhere to all quality and code of conduct standards
- Conduct audits using applicable checklists, forms, and tools
- Maintain positive client relationships and respond to all client inquiries and concerns
- Submit complete and accurate audit reports within established timelines
- Ensure thorough client records are maintained
- Attend trainings to maintain qualification to conduct audits; maintain training records
- Maintain up to date knowledge of applicable regulations and standards
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in environmental or biological science, marine biology, business,
seafood or fisheries industry, food industry, supply chain management, science, traceability,
policy development; or
- Master’s degree or equivalent in business, economics, environmental or biological science, or
- 2-4 years’ work experience applicable to the description above
- Complete fluency in English and work experience that involves professional written
- Strong organization, multi-tasking, and prioritization skills
- Proficient with business software including Outlook, Word and, Excel
- Strong attention to detail, customer service, and teamwork orientation
- Ability to take the initiative, good judgment, and ability to work independently under pressure in
- Ability to work in the US and abroad as needed
- ISO training certification or willingness to complete the ISO training offered by SCS
- Language skill in Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese, French or Japanese is highly desirable
- Audit experience is highly desirable

- This position is an office-based job primarily, with occasional travel to client sites. Ability to
transportation and carry luggage, ability to walk and stand for 2+ hours/day when auditing.

- Most of the time will be spent in the office (Home Office).
- Marine and food facilities during audits, and auditor assessment activities
