Position Summary

The Facility Labourer is responsible for supporting operations with equipment pre-loading, post project demobilization, property maintenance support, and handling/processing of hazardous and non-hazardous waste materials. The successful candidate may also be required to operate a forklift and skid steer as needed. The candidate must display a focus on safety and efficiency in a team environment while performing moderately labor-intensive tasks in a warehouse setting. The candidate will also have the opportunity from time to time to work with GFL’s specialized services, vacuum truck services, and emergency response teams.

The regular work schedule is Monday through Friday.

Specific Duties And Responsibilities

  • Ensure appropriate equipment and supplies are loaded daily for operational projects.
  • Support daily with project equipment demobilization. May include flushing pumps, drying hoses, restocking trailers, and completing documented post use inspections.
  • Ensure waste is processed in a timely and safe manner.
  • Assist with the loading and unloading of trucks and containers.
  • Ensure incoming waste conforms with acceptance protocols.
  • Ensure safe operation and procedures are followed at all times.
  • Complete paperwork correctly & ensure it is complete.
  • Complete job hazard risk assessments.
  • Promote and adopt a safety culture with all employees.
  • Provide superior internal and external customer service.
  • General shop organization and maintenance.
  • Other miscellaneous tasks as required.

Requirements

  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with a fairly clean driving abstract; Class 5Q Driver’s License is considered an asset.
  • Must be clean shaven, and able to wear respiratory protection from time to time.
  • Must have own reliable means of transportation to get to the facility.
  • Forklift experience would be an asset.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  • Ability to perform moderately labour intensive and repetitious tasks.
  • Physically fit with the ability to lift +50lbs and stand on cement for extended periods of time.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to complete meticulous paperwork forms.
  • Planning and organizational skills.
  • Ability to analyze, identify and solve problems.
  • Able to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to take direction, follow instruction, and be self motivated.
  • Eye for detail and high level of cleanliness and organization
