Working in the Community Investment Section, the Advisory Board Coordinator will play a critical role in supporting the City of Edmonton's Council Advisory Boards, including the City of Edmonton Youth Council, Women's Advisory Voice of Edmonton, Accessibility Advisory Committee, and the Community Services Advisory Board. This position is instrumental in ensuring the smooth functioning, legislative compliance, and sound governance of these committees.

What you will do?

  • Responsible for providing support, training and coordination to the Advisory Boards in regards to meeting management, records management, privacy, governance, budgeting, Council reporting, communications, ethics and conflict of interest, legal matters and GBA+
  • Project management and strategic planning of coordinated efforts and consistency in supporting Council Advisory Boards
  • Supervise a team of Advisory Board Facilitators
  • Assist in facilitation and strategic planning
  • Provide governance guidance and advice to leadership and committee chairs
  • Partner with the Office of the City Clerk to ensure coordination
  • Ensure submission of information for reporting and honorariums
  • Assist with planning, development, and management of meetings
  • Support the Chair's management of the agenda through recommendations
  • Support public participation at Committee meetings
  • Collaborate with the team to ensure accurate meeting minutes precisely document motions, votes, and decisions, adhering to established regulations
  • Ensure timely submission of information for reporting purposes and honorariums, and promptly post all necessary documents on the designated websites
  • Provide advice and support to Council via reports and correspondence


Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in Public Administration, Policy Studies, Law, Political Science or a related discipline
  • Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible and diversified experience in a complex and multi-disciplined organization, preferably government, in the areas of governance, research, policy development, or government relations


Assets:

  • Training in parliamentary procedure
  • Experience working in public sector
  • Experience with non-profit sector, community leaders and other levels of government
  • Experience with the Municipal Government Act and Freedom of Information and Privacy Act (FOIP)
  • Valid Alberta Class 5 driver's licence (or provincial equivalent).

Conditions of Employment

  • Ability to attend meetings at various locations in Edmonton
  • Weekend and evening work may be required


Work Environment:

  • This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement with the flexibility to work from both home and the worksite as per the Letter of Understanding between the City of Edmonton and Civic Service Union 52.
  • The weekly hours of work for this position are currently under review and may change at a future time. Any changes will be made in accordance with the City of Edmonton/Civic Service Union 52 collective agreement and the incumbent will be notified in advance.

Salary: $41.172 - $51.438 Hourly; $72,534.77 - $90,620.900 Annually
