We are seeking a Solution Designer to join TEC Canada’s Technology & Innovation team. Collectively our team focuses on the user experience of both our internal stakeholders (TEC Canada staff) and our external audience of Chairs and members. The Solution Designer will have projects that serve the needs of all stakeholders, finding solutions to complex problems with the user experience at the center of the solution.


Our Solution Designer has a design thinking mindset and approach to problem-solving and innovation anchored around human-centered design. This individual will need to have a UI/UX background as you will work closely with our Product Manager in designing an updated user interface for our TEC app solution. In addition, you will work closely with our IT Operations team and are comfortable with new technologies from both a user and technical side to support existing and new solutions. A change management skills set and experience leveraging Microsoft platforms like Dynamics 365, SharePoint and Power BI are key for success in this role.


This role requires strong organization skills, the ability to work independently and collaborate with others to understand the problem and find a solution. We are looking for someone who is passionate about the user experience, but also understands that pushing the envelope is part of growth and innovation. Someone who is comfortable taking an educated guess, when answers are not available.


Responsibilities

  • Work alongside our Product Manager to understand our business needs and the experience of Chairs and members to ensure our TEC App provides the flow and flexibility expected by senior business leaders.
  • Design UI mock-ups and prototypes that are simple and intuitive interfaces that clearly show how sites work and look.
  • Identify and resolve UX issues. Make layout changes based on user feedback, following font, colour and image style guidelines.
  • Communicate and work with our third-party developers to ensure your designs are executed properly.
  • Become an expert of the TEC App. Understand all features, functions, integrations, and pathways of the app and collaborate with internal stakeholders and third-party developers to transform the user experience.
  • Support the development of and participate in user acceptance testing for all releases.
  • Support and/or facilitate feedback sessions with our Chair community.
  • Support the go-to-market execution of all releases.
  • Collaborate across our organization and lead in the implementation of new technologies within our business to further enhance your colleagues work experience with technology.
  • Create project and change management plans for the roll out of new technology solutions.
  • Develop, configure, customize and maintain current and new solutions leveraging Power BI, Monday.com, HubSpot and more.
  • Interviewing users on their workflows to understand requirements and ensure there are no conflicts between users, apps or systems.
  • Innovate on future ideas and features and contribute to additional technology solutions within our team.


Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, interaction design or related field.
  • Proven experience as a UI/UX Designer or similar role.
  • Proven experience working with new technologies and supporting users in identifying their needs and training.
  • Exceptional communication skills and experience, able to build relationships with high-level stakeholders and senior leaders
  • Ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences and concepts into technical terms
  • Familiar with tools such as JIRA, Figma, Adobe XD, Asana, Monday.com and CRM platforms.
  • Change management and/or project management training considered an asset
