On behalf of our client, Procom is seeking a Senior Category Advisor will play a pivotal role in managing the end-to-end category management of the drilling portfolio. This includes subcategories such as drilling rigs, directional drilling, primary cementing, drilling fluids, and drill bits. This is a 12 month contract in Calgary Alberta.


Senior Category Advisor Job Details

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies for these subcategories, executing sourcing initiatives, and managing performance. A focus on continuously improving portfolio value and creating innovative strategies to drive value for key stakeholders is essential. The role requires coordination with Enterprise Category Management (ECM) and the SCM Support Center (SSC) to ensure the success of Well Delivery programs.

Responsibilities include developing annual and long-term strategic planning and budgeting to secure supply across the enterprise, ensuring business is conducted with financially viable and technically qualified suppliers, and sourcing and contracting goods and services efficiently. The candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams to maximize supply chain efficiencies and ensure compliance with company policies and standards. Key performance areas include establishing effective partnerships, enabling business objectives, and managing services and materials across the value chain. The role also involves acting as a resource for others through coaching and mentorship and fostering a healthy and engaging work environment.


Senior Category Advisor Mandatory Skills

  • Legally entitled to work in Canada
  • 8+ years of progressive strategic sourcing and procurement experience
  • Well Delivery experience
  • SCMP certification
  • Experience in upstream oil and gas
  • Experience with alternate contracting models and low-cost sourcing
  • Proven ability to manage high-performance teams
  • Post-secondary degree in business or equivalent
  • Strong negotiation skills for complex applications
  • Sourcing expertise with planning and implementing outsourcing models
  • Strong analytical skills and decision-making abilities
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills
