Manager of Intake and Analysis

Intake Unit, Investigations and Professional Conduct Department


Permanent Position, Category 4A - Hiring range – $137,908 - $150,696


The Manager of Intake and Analytics leads the College’s Intake Unit, which is a team that receives all inquiries, concerns, complaints, and reports regarding the conduct, competence or capacity of members of Ontario’s teaching profession. A proven professional, with excellent communication and problem-solving skills, you will interact with members of the public and the teaching profession, senior staff from school boards and legal counsel regarding concerns and complaints related to members of the Ontario College of Teachers. You will be responsible for analyzing and classifying complaints, and supporting a team that resolves a variety of concerns using conflict resolution skills. You will be responsible for maintaining department statistics as well as coordinating and/or preparing all correspondence related to intake issues.


The ideal candidate will be self-directed, motivated and able to anticipate needs and initiate appropriate actions under the direction of the Director, Investigations and Professional Conduct. In-depth knowledge of the Ontario education system and related legislation is required. Excellent English and French language skills are required for this position. Membership in the College is considered an asset.


Responsibilities

  • Managing Intake Unit resources to achieve department operational deliverables and College strategic priorities, including operating budgets and project costs;
  • Providing leadership and training to a team of staff responsible for receiving concerns or complaints, and resolving them or determining appropriate next steps in the complaints process;
  • Overseeing the Therapy and Counselling Funding Program and projects associated with its administration;
  • Leading significant projects within the Intake Unit or the Investigations and Professional Conduct Department to enhance efficiencies and improve service for participants in the complaints processes;
  • Establishing and tracking key performance indicators within the Intake Unit and the Investigations and Professional Conduct Department;
  • As a Unit manager and member of the department leadership team, participating in Investigations and Professional Conduct Department planning, program and priority setting;
  • Representing the College at presentations and sessions with external parties, including ongoing and planned outreach to Indigenous communities;
  • Interacting with members of the public and the teaching profession, senior staff from school boards, independent schools, First Nations schools and legal counsel;
  • Interpreting relevant sections of the Ontario College of Teachers Act , Education Act, and other relevant legislation;
  • Preparing correspondence in response to complex queries regarding relevant legislation, publication bans, and the College mandate, including media inquiries;
  • Preparing reports and analyzing trends, caseload data, and emerging issues regarding the work of the Department and the College as a whole, to support data-based decision making;
  • Performing other duties as assigned by the Director of Investigations and Professional Conduct.


Qualifications And Experience

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a professional regulation setting, preferably in roles responsible for the receipt and/or resolution of complaints
  • Demonstrated experience leading a team, with excellent team building and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in program planning, target setting, and metric/key performance indicator (KPI) development within a team that deals with a high volume of matters within tight timelines;
  • Expertise with respect to the collection, automation, and analysis of data;
  • Demonstrated experience handling sensitive and confidential materials, including documents relating to abuse;
  • Self-motivated and self-directed with superior organizational skills and ability to multi-task;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • Superior analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • In depth knowledge of the Ontario College of Teachers Act , the Education Act , related legislation, and the professional and ethical standards of the teaching profession;
  • Membership in the College and/or broad knowledge of the teaching profession, teacher professionalism, and the teaching environment with experience in the public education sector is considered an asset;
  • Excellent English and French writing and oral language proficiency is a requirement for this position.
