Who are we looking for?

GHD’s Geotechnical Dams and Tailings team is seeking a talented and motivated Hydrotechnical Engineer to join our dynamic team in Vancouver, BC. In this role, you will be responsible for providing technical expertise and support on variety of hydrotechnical projects, including river engineering, flood risk management, and hydraulic modeling.

Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:

  • Conduct hydrotechnical analyses of variety of projects, including water storage dams and Tailings Storage Facilities, hydro power and hydraulic structures, river engineering, flood protection and failure impact assessments.
  • Develop and implement hydrological and hydraulic models.
  • Prepare technical reports, design drawings, and specifications.
  • Contribute to business development of our Dams and Tailings Service Lines, nationally and internationally using internal and external networks
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality projects.
  • Provide technical support and mentorship to team members.
  • Engage with clients and stakeholders to understand project requirements and deliver solutions.

What you bring to the team:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or eligibility for registration.
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in hydrotechnical engineering.
  • Proficiency in hydrological and hydraulic modeling software (e.g., HEC-RAS, SWMM, MIKE).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
