Date: 5 days ago
City: Victoria, BC
Contract type: Contractor
About us:
At Tall Tree, you’ll join an award-winning clinic focused on exceptional integrated healthcare. We’re a diverse team that is endlessly nerdy— we love learning, teaching, and keeping up to date with the latest research. We’re the most multidisciplinary and comprehensive team in private healthcare in BC; we put each client at the center of this with our goal to match everyone with the right clinician or team of clinicians. We take pride in our passionate clinicians, inspiring and uplifting facilities, high-quality health services, and exceptional customer service. We’re committed to delivering healthcare in the best possible way— and we have a singular culture of respect, warmth, curiosity and enthusiasm that makes being a part of the Tall Tree team something to be truly proud of.
About The Longevity Program
Our Longevity Program is a 1-year program focused on proactive, preventative healthcare made real. Our approach is to be aggressive with screening, to move the goalpost from normal to optimal, and to support people through providing exercise, nutrition, sleep optimization and stress management to prevent diseases like cancer, neurological degeneration, cardiovascular disease, and metabolic syndrome. Our goal is to extend healthy years (healthspan) and prevent chronic illness and disease. Exercise, and adherence to physical activity, are some of the key pillars of our program.
About the role:
As a Strength & Conditioning Coach in the Tall Tree Longevity Program, you will play a key role in helping patients reach their fitness goals and supporting them in improving their metrics through exercise. You’ll work alongside a dedicated group of clinicians and professionals, including health coaches, physicians, DEXA technicians, and our administrative team to combat age-related diseases. You’ll be focused on providing patients with expert guidance through personal training, conducting metrics testing such as V02max, developing personalized training plans, and offering behavioral support to adhering to their plans.
This is a part-time, permanent contract role based out of our Cordova Bay location, with the goal of extending it to a full-time contract.
This is a unique opportunity for a dedicated professional who believes in doing healthcare the way it should be done—by focusing on genuine connections, effective solutions, and the overall health of the individuals we serve.

This is a unique opportunity for a dedicated professional who believes in doing healthcare the way it should be done—by focusing on genuine connections, effective solutions, and the overall health of the individuals we serve.
As a Strength and Conditioning Coach at Tall Tree, you will:
- Perform thorough and individualized strength and functional testing. Improvements in muscle mass, activities of daily living, injury rehabilitation, and improving body composition such as reducing visceral fat are common goals for our members. You will be responsible for tailoring your assessments to the individual that look at strength, mobility and prevention related to the client's goal.
- Develop tailored exercise programs. Every patient you see leaves with a treatment plan to improve their health metrics. It may include enhanced mobility, promote long-term health, and prevent chronic diseases, incorporating strength training, cardiovascular endurance (zone 2 and zone 5 recommendations), and flexibility.
- Offer 1:1 personal training sessions. Whether you are at our Cordova Bay or our partner gym, Speed Mechanics, you will agree with the patient if they require personal training for support on their exercise routine, or offer them a program that you touch base with them on.
- Conduct comprehensive performance assessments such as VO2 max and Lactate testing. We know the higher your V02max for your age and sex, the lower risk of all-cause mortality. You are able to interpret the data and prescribe recommendations for cardiovascular training based on their heart rate zones for Zone 2 and Zone 5. Lactate testing is something we do, but not as often.
- Collaborate as a team in patient rounds. Yourself, the Longevity Physician, Longevity Coach and care coordinator will meet weekly to review patients progress, troubleshoot obstacles, and collaborate on clinical development.
- Deliver clear treatment plans and roadmaps to patients. Treatment planning is an essential skill for this role to ensure clients know what they are doing, how often, and how to use you for the course of their membership.
- Design interventions to prevent or manage chronic conditions such as cardiovascular disease and diabetes by improving metabolic health and promoting healthy weight management.
- Keep growing. You’ll stay current with the latest evidence, findings, trends, and developments to ensure clients receive the best possible care, and attend other educational opportunities available at Tall Tree.
- A Registered Kinesiologist in good standing with British Columbia Association of Kinesiologists (BCAK), or is certified with Canadian Society For Exercise Physiology (CSEP) as a Certified Personal Trainer (ex CSCS NSCA) or an equivalent association is required. You have a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Sports Science, or a related field.
- Ideally 3-5 years of relevant experience in personal training or working in a clinical setting, including hands-on experience in conducting and interpreting VO2max and Lactate threshold test.
- Valid First Aid / AED / CPR certification, or willingness to obtain before starting
- Additional training: Basic Venipuncture certification and/or specific training in advanced exercise testing methods are an asset. Training in VO2max, Blood Lactate, and RMR testing, is a strong asset.
- A commitment to growth: You have a deep passion for learning and continuous growth and development. You bring an openness to exploring new ideas and approaches to service delivery.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills: You have a proven ability to collaborate effectively within a diverse team. You communicate clearly and effectively, whether you’re speaking, listening, or writing. You use precise language, compelling reassurance, healing narratives, and consistent messages.
- Enthusiasm for teaching: You love sharing knowledge and can help mentor colleagues.
- Humility and curiosity: You have an eagerness to learn and collaborate.
