Work Arrangement: This role is primarily based in the office environment with occasional work-from-home flexibility

Position Overview

The Airport Operations Training Specialist is responsible for creating, implementing, and managing comprehensive training programs to ensure that operational staff, ground handlers, and aviation personnel are well-prepared to meet industry standards. The role requires a strong background in instructional design, training delivery, and aviation operations. The Airport Operations Training Specialist will work closely with various stakeholders to identify training needs, assess the effectiveness of current programs, and provide continuous improvement initiatives. Regular travel to different airport locations is required to support on-site training and assessments.

Primary Job Functions

The duties of the Airport Operations - Training Specialist include:

  • Train the Trainer Program – Primary person accountable for the delivery, oversight, and effectiveness of the Flair Train the Trainer program to ensure standardized, effective delivery, while assessing the skills of the trainers and the trainees they train.
  • Training Facilitation - Facilitate training sessions both in-person and virtually, covering a wide range of topics such as safety protocols, operational procedures, and customer service excellence.
  • Training Programs – Participate in ensuring that all training programs meet industry regulations and adhere to the highest safety standards. Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs through feedback, assessments, and on-the-job performance. Modify programs as necessary to meet evolving needs.
  • Training Effectiveness - Conduct on-site evaluations of staff performance to assess the application of training in real-world settings. Identify areas where additional training is needed. Collaborate with managers to identify operational gaps and create targeted training initiatives to address these issues.
  • 3 rd Party Training - Develop and maintain relationships with ground handlers and other key stakeholders to ensure seamless training and operational coordination.

Secondary Job Functions

  • Create engaging, up-to-date training materials that cater to both new hires and existing staff, with a focus on ground operations, safety procedures, and regulatory compliance.

  • Analyze LMS data and training reports to track employee progress, identify trends, and make informed recommendations for program enhancements.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Education:
    • A degree in Education, Training & Development, Aviation Management, or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in training development and delivery, preferably within the aviation or transportation industry.
    • Strong background in aviation operations or ground handling is essential.
    • Experience working with safety regulations and compliance standards in aviation
    • Proven experience in creating, delivering, and updating training programs for operational teams.
    • Hands-on experience assessing gaps in operations and implementing training improvements.
    • Proficient in using Learning Management Systems (LMS) and other training tools.
    • Previous experience collaborating with cross-functional teams and building strong relationships
  • Skills & Abilities:
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with confidence in public speaking.
    • Excellent attention to detail, particularly in maintaining accurate records and ensuring compliance with industry regulations.
    • Adaptable to different training environments and operational needs.
    • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adjust training methods as required.

  • Requirements:
    • Clear criminal record check and satisfactory references.
    • Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Restricted Area Identity Card (RAIC)
    • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada without restriction.
