Manager, Estimating

Our Manufacturing group is looking for an Estimating Manager to lead our high-performing estimating team and ultimately produce competitive estimates with accurate project costs while driving the continuous improvement of the group as a whole. The Estimating Manager is responsible for the overall submission of project estimate packages in the pursuit of new business and to manage and mentor direct reports.

What You Get to Do:

• Work together with colleagues in Design, Supply Chain, Sales, etc. to ensure compelling, cost competitive solutions are developed and presented to prospective clients.
• Analyze actual costs on executed projects to ensure accurate costs are captured for new business pursuits.
• Build and maintain relationships with vendors, subcontractors, and consultants.
• Develop and maintain estimating tools.
• Help structure bid packages by providing early design input and specification development.
• Ensure there are clean handover packages provided to the Design, Project Management and Supply Chain teams.
• Support the Project Management team during project execution by providing change order costs.
• Build organizational alignment and effective networks to achieve break through results within his team.
• Drive continuous process improvement to maximize the efficiency of ATCO’s current processes within the Estimating team.
• Ensure quality standards and projects meet both client and internal stakeholder requirements.
  
  

Who You Are:

• 7-10 years of relevant experience in the capacity of commercial estimator.
• Experience with a range of project delivery methods including lump sum, construction management and design build is considered an asset.
• Undergraduate degree or college/technical school diploma in quantity surveying or engineering
• Ability to read and interpret drawings.
• Knowledge of civil work, foundations, buried services is an asset.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
• Knowledge of different discipline drawings and modular building construction is an asset.
• A self-starter team player with good organizational skills and interest in trades.
